It's early in the season yet. We've barely broken into the first moments of October, but I know that many of you are already busy and buzzing with ideas, plots, characters, and outlines, not to mention ambitious plans for high wordcounts and attending many of our lovely write-ins! So, I am asking any and all of you if you're interested in taking part in a experiment of mine:

The NaNo Project was born when I got really bored one night and thought, "Hey! I've blogged all my past nanos! It would be really cool if we had a blog where tons of people got together to blog about nano!" And The NaNo Project was born.

I'm looking for people who are interested in taking part in this. I'd prefer that it be just people in this region, but if there's not enough interest, I'll open it up to some other regions as well. And you don't have to post every day or even more than once or twice! We can put people's wordcount gadgets in the sidebar when things get going and everyone is welcome to blog about anything from plot ideas and whines to excerpts and their favorite characters! If you're interested, go ahead and drop me a PM with your email address. I'll add you to the list of people allowed to post to the blog (we're allowed up to 100 contributors!).

So... Interested?

I'd be interested. Can't promise I'll be able to post much, with classes, nanoing, hopefully a job soon, and that pesky life thing that always seems to be too much of a bother in November...But a place to discuss the process of Nanoing would certainly be a good outlet.

I've never blogged before in my life, but sure. I'm a cranky 35-year-old, so you'll have to bear with me as I get the hang of all this newfangled technology. ;-) I'll send you a NaNoMail with my address.

lol, actually I'm also blogging about my NaNo experience.

This sounds like a great idea though! I would love to contribute to the group blog. Awesome.

I'm a blog junkie :) But only after I've met word count. I ban internet until I've hit the daily goal.

I'm in. I will probably cross post from my blog unless that's an issue, but I've done this before and it has helped me to have a very visible place (even more visible than the author profile) to post word count and progress.

jbayely's right though - I won't be posting anything until word count is reached for the day.

This is so exciting! Thank you everyone for all of your support and interest. I'm adding people to the blog as quickly as I can after asking. Sent out a number of invites this morning. Remember that you're more than welcome to stat posting about the pre-writing planning and everything if you like. I know that I'm going to make some videos this year for viddler and put there on the blog as well.

The only request I make of people is to try to keep things on a PGish to PG-13 rating. NaNoWriMo is an all-ages event, so let's keep things relatively family friendly. :D

Once November sets in and the wordcount widgets are up and running, I'm going to see if I can get them nicely posted on the sidebar of the blog. However, I know there are some who might not want their wordcounts out there like that, so I'll only go about doing this if requested. Send me another nanomail and I'll add your widget once they're nice and activated!

I have never written on a blog so it would be something else new to do but I would love to try it if you will have me. I live in the Gorge, does that count as your region? I am in Portland 3 times a week, maybe more during NaNo!

Thanks for the challenge,

Deb

I'm definitely interested. How do the mechanics for doing this work? I've been blogging on Blogspot for over 3 years now so I'm familiar with blogging but how are you getting people to post their stuff on your blog?

Send me a PM with your email address and I'll add you as a contributor. Then, when you log into blogger, The NaNoProject will come up as a blog you can post to!

The wordcount widgets are finally working!! Most people missed my post about getting your wordcount on the blog, so I put everyone's up (if you don't see yours, holler at me!) and if you don't want it there, just say so and I can take it down.

If anyone is going for a goal other than 50k, just tell me and I can edit your widget to reflect that (you'll see mine says 17k, but it's less than 20% into the graph - I'm aiming for 100k this month).

Happy Blogging!!!

Hi Nibo,

I'd love to participate, as I seem to keep letting life run over my writing. I need to be more accountable. So please post my widget :) and I'd love to join in. I need some serious Portland Ninja's to threaten, cajole, admonish, tsk, and take me to task to stay on track.

I've been blogging NaNoWriMo on my blog:

http://www.dunx.org/blog/

I'd be happy to mirror those posts on the communal blog thing.
