Welcome Writers!

November is coming up quickly, and it's time to start planning our Missoula area kick-off party.

In the past, we have typically held the kick-off party on the Sunday prior to November 1. This year, however, that is a full week before Nano starts! That seems a bit early to me, so I wanted to offer some options to see what people's preferences are:

1. Sunday, October 25, 2:00 p.m. (time could be flexible, maybe a bit earlier)
2. Tuesday, October 27, 6:00 p.m. (time flexible, but would have to be after 5:30 for me to make it)
3. Thursday, October 29, 6:00 p.m. (time flexible, but would have to be after 5:30 for me to make it)
4. Saturday, October 31, 2:00 p.m. (time could be flexible)

I think we'll probably meet at Liquid Planet on Higgins. They have a "conference room" that we can reserve. No fighting for tables on a crowded weekend. I'll check their hours this week, though, because I don't know how late they stay open on weeknights (should we choose the Tu or Th).

So please let me know what works for you--either by replying to this post of PM'ing me through the site.

Thanks!

Julie

Hi Julie! Long time no see!

Any of those days and times is fine for me, although I would prefer the first and second option. (Thursday is TV Night and Saturday is Halloween.)

Hello!

I think that I might participate this year . . . this will be my first NaNo undertaken while having a full-time (and really awesome) job!

As for kick off party times, I'm down for any except the Tuesday night, which I absolutely cannot make. I'd prefer one of the weekends, but could do Thursday.

Can't wait to see the Missoula writers again. I missed you guys!

Hi, Julie. You don't know me- this is my first year doing NaNo.
Although the eve of November 1st is pretty appropriate for the kickoff, I'd prefer not to meet on Halloween
I think the 25th probably works best for my sister, who is also participating this year but not yet registered.

I've snatched up No Plot? No Problem! from the library for the duration of November, and if anyone else wants to peruse it I'll gladly share.

Can't say whether one day would be better than any other, but I will watch for announcement. I am more determined than ever to have a "successful" NaNo this year, after flopping around without words in 2008.

Hi everyone! I haven't participated (much) in NaNo for the past couple of years, but I'm back in the game.

Being unemployed at the moment, I'm amenable to any of the suggested dates/places for the kickoff party.

I haven't come up with a plot yet, but there are one or two characters making themselves known to me.

Say, has anybody heard anything out of those vile Sasakatchewanians? I'm looking forward to the annual pounding!

Count me in for the Missoula kick off. I am in Arlee this November and ready to play with a whole new community.
Thursday, October 29th might be close without tripping over Halloween.

Let me know.

What the heck -- how are we already only eleven days out from November??? Is anyone else starting to feel a bit stressed? I'm super stressed, seeing as the only story points I've got have been adopted from the NaNo boards...

When is the kick-off?

This is my first time subscribing to this madness and I am really looking forward to it. I am sure my opinion will take a turn to the humble as November scoots by!

The weekdays after 5:30 would work for me.

Hey Julie: If I can make it to the kickoff, thursday will be it. Which Liquid Planet, downtown or Brookes? Anytime after 5:30 is great. Thanks for doing this. What can I expect at a kick off party? What can I bring? Can I help?

Tuesdays are a no-go for me, too. I think I could make it to the Thursday, but there's a game on Saturday and I've gotta play with a giant American flag. =o

Anyway, I hope to see you all soon! I'm not sure if I'm excited or just nervous about this year's NaNo yet, but I do know that it'll be one hell of a November.

Hi All,

Sorry, I've been out for a couple of days (life's been crazy). Anyway...

Our kick-off will be this Sunday, October 25, which seems to work best. It'll be at Liquid Planet on North Higgins. I've reserved the meeting area in the back from 2:00 p.m. until 4:00 p.m., although we could probably stay later if no one else has the room.

I'll also send out an e-mail to everyone via Nano mail.

Thanks and see you this Sunday.

Hi, I'm Owen, and I just moved to Missoula a couple months ago, so this is my first Nanowrimo here. So I'm gonna do this proper and try to get really involved in the events.

I'm still rather new, so if anybody has good directions to Liquid Planet (I'm coming from E Broadway and Higgins) I'd greatly appreciate it.

Hi, Owen!

Liquid Planet is on Higgins just off of Broadway. If you're coming from east Broadway, make a left onto Higgins. Liquid Planet is immediately on your right. If you cross the Higgins St. bridge, you've gone about 3 blocks too far. Liquid Planet is between a second hand book shop and a copy/computer shop. Hope that helps!

See y'all Sunday!

I would liked to have gone. But I can't drive and couldn't find anyone who wanted to sit around in Zoo town for 2 hours waiting for me after driving over an hour to get there! xD (stupid construction!)

So, how was it? What's it like? Maybe one of these times I will be able to go =]

It was nice meeting everyone today! I'd say that it was nice to put a face with a screen name...but I didn't learn anyone's name, screen name or otherwise! Ah, well...maybe next week? Anyhoo...hanging out today has made me even more excited for NaNo. Not to mention that chatting was super fun. Thank you! :)

It was a lot of fun meeting you all. I'm horrible with names, but i'm hoping I'll know all of you well by the end.

Also check out my post about a midnight kickoff event.

Weekends our tough for me so, sorry I missed everyone. I probably won't be able to make any library visits either so good luck to everyone, hopefully there will be some motivational posts I can peruse during the month.
