So it seems like there is some interest in a write-in happening around Langley. vampire_rogue and I are definitely in, sounds like TrueNorth is too.

Going to confirm with a local coffee shop this week that they wouldn't mind having us. Probably Wendel's (although if there's too many people it won't work) or Wired Monk on 48th.

I think I'm going to go ahead and say Friday nights for the month of November for those write-ins. At the moment I know of no conflicts on my end, and I'm going to try and keep it that way.

There will be prizes for most written at that write-in, and also who has the most to date. Any other ideas for prizes?

Sounds great! I'm in for sure! I think Thursday nights would work better for me, but as long as it's not Tuesday I will plan on being there!

I love prizes :D Not sure other ideas, but prizes are always fun!

Why don't we all get together sometime this month for a pre-NaNo write-in - we can do some prep work for our novels, get to know each other a bit (so we can get straight to the good stuff in November ;)) and that sort of thing?

Thursdays don't really work for me. I sing in a blues/rock kinda band and we likely have a gig at the end of the month so no skipping Thursday night practices! lol.

Oooh! Fun! Okay, Thursdays are out! Friday will have to do then - unless I get a part-time job as I am planning...then I will have to tell them that Fridays in November do not work ;)

Any yay or nay for the prep night?

Prep night? As in on Halloween? Or just some night this month to get together and plan?

If it's the latter I'm TOTALLY down with that :D

Ohhh yes, lets do it :D

Friday the 16th is really the only day that works for me (the other one being the planning event at Blenz on Granville which I'll be at)

I'm free all day but evening probably works best.

I can do Friday the 16th! Evening is the only thing that will work for me - I work during the day.

Man, unfortunately, Friday nights really suck for me. I work till ten at night usually, and asking you to find a Timmy's after that or something is rediculous. I will try to make any that I can, but my days off are wednesday and thursdays. As it stands I am off work around six on mondays' and tuesdays, but I don't know how long that will last. I hope I get to come to some of these.

Well I plan on being out quite late on the Fridays writing, because I can. Friday is my day off both jobs so I'm probably good to go all day writing as much as my brain will allow. The place I do pick to hold the Write-In will have to be open til late... later the better.

I work Mon-Wed nights and have band practice on Thurs nights so those are out :(

Sadface Asheyna, Sadface. Well, let me know. I can try to bring my laptop to work with me on Friday's if I know we're meeting after. I know some Tim's are open 24Hours... Starbucks closes at ten and I don't know about the Wired Monks...

Some Starbucks are open later... I know because I've been there til midnight :D The two in Walnut Grove for sure.

With the totally busy day I had I didn't go to as many places as I wanted. The ones I did close too early. Will peek around again tomorrow evening perhaps.

Do you know where you're meeting on the 16th? Turns out my plans after work got cancelled so if you're still out and about, I can join in. But last bus home is midnight so I gotta keep that in mind.

Pfft, you know I got you for a ride. You're off about 10ish? I gotta check Starbucks' hours and see but I'm 99.99% sure the one on 88th is open until midnight, I know I was there last Friday til 11:30 so tentatively let's say that one.

Well I decided I'm hitting up the Wired Monk on 88th and 204 in Walnut Grove. Because I <3 the Monk way more than Starbucks. I've been there until at least 10 PM on a Friday. Hoping it's open later, i didn't stay cuz i had a movie to get to hehe.

I should be there about 7 or so, maybe sooner. I'll be the redhead with a pile of paper (no netbook yet).

Awesome! I might show up right after work, which means I should be there by about 5:30. I'll have my laptop with me, since that's where all of my "stuff" is.

I've added details to the calendar. Let me know if I got things mixed up or if there's a change. Also, feel free to put a shout out in the "Announcing Write-ins" thread if you want. Wish I could join you guys and check out the Monk, but I've got people coming over to my house and I should actually be there to entertain them when they show up :) But, I'm going to try to recruit at least a couple of them into joining NaNo this year.

Hi Asheyna,

I've been following the info on the Langley write-ins and meet & greet. Did many show up for the Oct. 16th gathering? Will there be room to continue meeting there if others join you during November?

I would definitely attend Langley gatherings, providing I'm not at work. Like a few who've posted above me, Thursdays work best. I admit I'm not currently living in Langley, I'm in Cloverdale, but I grew up in Langley and know it far better by bus than any Surrey group I could meet with!

Thursdays just really suck for me, so feel free to organize something on that day but I won't be there.

Lots of room at the Monk if more people would join us. We had me, MysteriousAges and TrueNorth at the last one plus a friend of mine I'm trying to get to sign up.

Regardless I will still be there from about 6~wheneverish (11?) on Fridays writing.

Langley, what's up? I'm from Abby, but I heard about these, and since nobody from Abby likes to talk on the Internet, apparently, I don't think we have any scheduled write-ins. I might be able to stop by on some Friday eves, we'll see how it works out.
Could someone post the address of the coffee shop y'all plan on writing in so non-Langleyites can find it? Thanks!

Langley, BC V1M 2Y4. I haven't managed to get there yet, but I believe gatherings are still Friday evenings. Asheyna mentioned if you have questions you can email her: tehg33kgir1@gmail.com

Has anyone confirmed hours for the Wired monk? I'd like to go, but my work schedule is erratic, and might not be able to get there until after 9 30!

The Monk is open until 11PM, some days I may be there that late... other days Stargate Universe may call me away hehe.

If you would like feel free to private msg me on here and I will reply with my cell number, free incoming so feel free to call and check and see if anyone is still at the Monk when you're thinking of heading over.

That actually goes for anyone :)

Looking forward to getting a good group out there this Friday!

Hey. -shy smile- So I did drive by the Wired Monk on Friday but seriously, there was no one there! Looking at this forum now, it seems a couple people showed up, but...? If there are going to be people there next week, mind replying to this thread or sending me a message? I'll be there if there is a guarantee I won't be by myself! ^^"

Ok my bad all, I told TrueNorth but didn't get around to being able to post it here. I had something come up last minute that was all sorts of epic awesome fun-ness that I had to accept, despite saying I was a no-go for the month of November lol.

I will be there this coming Friday, looking forward to seeing everyone. As mentioned before, send me a PM via this site if you would like my cell number in order to find us easier at the Monk or to confirm times, etc.

<3 Asheyna

PS. Sorry again I missed this one.
