This year we're going to do two kick-offs: an initial Kick-Off on Thursday October 29th and a Write-Off opening before midnight on the 31st.

The Kick-off will be from 7pm to 10pm (or so) at the Elim Cafe (561 W. Dimond) in the Conference Room (Unless there's a lot of us, then it'll be out in the open). That's where I'll be passing out Survival Bags, and where we'll have strange plot-developing games as well as opportunities for you to gush about your beautiful story-to-be.

The Write-off is the real purpose of this post. Last year we were able to get together to start typing right at midnight on the first, and go for several productive hours. It was so well liked that we're bringing it back. Due to scheduling, I may be unable to attend myself. However, some lovely volunteers will be there to manage things (Keriana, very_bored_2day, and yksin - you guys rock!) without me.

So we have the time figured out for the Write-off, what we need to discern is our location. To do this, we need a ballpark of who would be interested in joining this crazy endeavor. So, shout out a reply and let us get a count. Then check back in about a week (if you don't obsessively check the boards daily) for details.

Clearly, I'll be coming! 8D Disclaimer: assuming I don't have a (literal) heart attack before/during the write-off. My health has been doing funny dippy things lately, so I should be there with 98% certainty, but I've been missing a few write meet ups as it is based on "hmm, my heart is beating erratically, perhaps I should not venture out to caffeinate myself in the Alaskan winter."

I'm definitely liking the idea of coming, and will try to do so if I can. It all depends on my work schedule.

I'm interested in attending the midnight kick-off, if it's held somewhere that I can get to and get back from.

I tend to forget about these forums, so I'll keep an eye on the mailing list.

Well it's the kick-off or trick-or-treating, and I'm a little old be hounding the neighbors for free candy, so count me in.

I'm a little insulted you forgot the "e" in my name, Heather. :(

Short answer: YES.

Long answer: Yes, but what time would the party get started? Late evening would be best, as Halloween festivities abound. But I love the write-off last year. Twas fun.

Late evening is definitely the plan. It largely depends on where we end up. All-night diners, people's houses and a hotel room have been discussed. I see no reason why it should start before 10 pm, and it might not get going till 11.

And we will miss you!

Uh... that was not an 'e' eaten by the typo fairy. Instead, it was a secret stealth 'e'. We're trying a new thing.

I'll be there, I may be dressed as Iron Man or Spiderman I have not decided yet. But my roommate is throwing a super hero themed party and I must oblige, (not because I want to dress up and be cool >,> ). Um... there is a smaaaalll potential that I might not make it due to the festivities but I will have jodotha and a couple others to call and or find me and beat me into submission in order to show up so it's all good.

Knowing that wi-fi is dangerous for those who should be writing but like to be distracted Village Inn has wi-fi capability. ^_^ One potential spot we could all collect. Though I do like the idea of gathering at someones house, much more comfy type atmosphere and we wouldn't get kicked out at like 3am as we would at the supposedly all night dinners. Not that I'm offerin mine since I don't actually have one. XD

I won't be able to go to the 29th Kick-off, as much as I want to, because my flight doesn't get into Anchorage until 10:47pm. Unless you guys want to go until midnight, I'd make a special jet-lagged trip on the way home. Just sayin'. Also, I really want the survival pack.

(I will, however, be attending the Tampa, FL St. Petersburg, FL Kick-off on the 24th, so don't feel that sorry for me.)

Alas, as our location has changed to Elim Cafe, the Kick-Off will only be from 7 to 9 PM.

However, do come to the Write-Off on the 31st. It'll start at 10:30 and run until the wee hours of the morning. The survival packs will be available to anyone who attends any of the events.

Assuming this open to all Anchorage residents, I would love to attend, though I also will probably be in a ridiculous costume.

It is absolutely open to all Anchorage participants. And costumes are encouraged!

This will be my first winter in Anchorage. (Not my first in AK) I'll probably attend both events.
