Hallo!
I know that there is already a thread about getting a writing group goign again this year, and I hope this doesnt come across badly, but I was wondering if any other students on here fancy getting together a little errrr sub-group? Purely because we have a bit more time on our hands than people with full time jobs and families- you know- the grown ups. It could be based on campus, meet once a week (on a diff day to the other group, so could attend both) and just be a way for us to get our geek on. Together. Let me know what you think!

Hi, I'd be interested in a York student's group but when you say meet on campus which uni do you mean? I'm at the University of York but perhaps we should meet off campus if any York St. John students are about too.

Perhaps if everyone posted the reasonable gaps in their timetables we could worksomething out. I have no lectures on either Wednesday or Thursday and am also available Monday and Friday mornings in the week. I do have two kids so any meets outside these times might find me absent.

Okay well Im U of Y- I work pretty sporadic hours, but I never have lectures or work on a Friday, so for me a Friday would be best. I think since there are people from YSJ interested, off campus would be better, probably in town somewhere? I would suggest Evil Eye- things like herbal tea and coffee are really cheap (although might be interesting to do a cocktail fuelled-write??? ;) ) and they have wi-fi- and its always quiet in the day. But Im happy with a Starbucks or a Costa. Whatever you guys think! xx

----------Monday and Thursday, don't even go there. Tuesday and Wednesday I am free all day unless I'm away, Friday I'm busy 12.30 to 1.30, but otherwise free.

I second Evil Eye, although I've only ever been there in the evening. I like the idea of a cocktail-fueled write at some point, too- maybe later in the month?
Argh, I just looked at my timetable for the first time and it doesn't bode well for a sucessful NaNo! My lecture times vary quite a bit from week to week and I don't know exactly when I'll be free until I find out what practical groups I'm in, but Wednesday afternoons (and possibly mornings) would be best for me, or late Tuesday afternoon.

I'm at York Uni, and I'd be up for meeting up. Can meet most days except Weds and Thurs during the day. Evil Eye's fine with me.

This seems to be getting a little confusing. May I suggest that we have two initial meets and then take it from there? Wednesday afternoons seem good for a lot of people so possibly a Wednesday at 1pm in the Evil Eye? Most other people seem to be available Friday so perhaps a Friday morning, though that should be settled by people who can't make Wednesdays, it's just that I'd love to meet you all and I'm only available on Fridays in the morning :)

OK, so I propose that the first meet be next Wednesday (21st) at 1pm in the Evil Eye. We should think of a way to identify ourselves and I reckon the fruity tradition of this region is the most obvious choice. Of course if anyone wants to make it Friday that's fine, just suggest a time.
Sorry if I seem to be taking over and pushing this, I just find sometimes it''s a bit easy for these things to slip by and I really do want to meet all you guys!

I shall be there! Unless I'm in London, in which case I won't. Don't think I'm going to be in London though, so I should see you there. Look for the dinky pink laptop, and the fruit.

Hello - I'm a YSJ student too (hi Rach!) and Friday morning is no good for me, ever *shrug*. Wednesday afternoon's not either... Wednesday morning, anyone? Friday lunchtime (11:15 - 1:45)? No worries if not - I'm sure something will work out :)

----------I shall probably take to living in the Evil Eye on Tuesdays and Wenesdays lol. Wifi is good, cider is good, proximity to the uni library is good. I can sit and get essays written... no, wait, that's a lie

If you're in York and you're a student of any sort then we can't argue with that - the thread isn't called 'York Uni Students'.
I can do Friday lunch time and Wednesdays from next week. (I'm doing a tired little dance today since it was deadline day for my first assessed essays, I'm guessing the all nighter last night was just practice for NaNo...).
