One of my jobs as ML is to remind you and encourage you to donate. The NaNoWriMo website is run by the Office of Letters and Light which runs solely on donations. Donations start from $10 (which I think is about £5.00) and then you'll get a shiny halo next to your name. If you donate enough there are other things like stickers and posters too!
I understand that not all of you will be able to donate but if you can then please do. On the homepage you can see a graph of what they plan to do with the donations so you know where your money's going. On the regional header you can find a link to the office of letters and light.
Without the donations of participants, NaNoWriMo wouldn't be able to run each year so please give back. The future of the site depends on people like you.
I will also be passing around a cup at write ins etc so if you can't afford the $10 you'll have the chance to give something. (But then you wouldn't get a pretty halo!)

I decided that I was pretty upset with myself that I have never donated to OLL in the seven years I've done NaNo. I donated $50, I feel I owe them a lot more, but I just can't afford it. :(
I'll try and make up for it next year...!
I recommend everyone do the same - $10 is next to nothing, it only takes five minutes and I'm sure it goes a long way.
