I noticed that our southern neighbors in Patagonia are still without an ML, meaning they probably also won't have much in the way of organized events.

What do you all think of inviting them up to participate in our Kick-Off Party, Midnight Sprint, etc.?

Here's the invite I posted over in the Patagonia Regional Forum:

Quote:
We, your NaNoWriMo neighbors just up I-19 a short ways, wanted to let you know that if you don't end up getting a Kick-Off Party or Midnight Dash organized, we'd love to have you take the drive up here and join us for our events. We have a pretty eclectic group up here in Tucson, and our get-togethers have always been fun. There's always room for some more to join in, so please feel welcome.

You don't need to switch your affiliation over to Tucson. We're not looking to roll your numbers into ours, and any competition that takes place will be strictly friendly. We just think that a big part of the magic of NaNoWriMo is hanging out with other writers that are just as crazy as we are for this undertaking, and we know that sometimes it's difficult for the more rural regions to get things going.

We're finalizing the plans for the Kick-Off Party, which right now is tentatively scheduled for Wednesday, Oct. 28th in the early evening, provided the accomodations we'd like to use are still available.

Our Midnight Dash is planned for the night of October 31st, and barring unforeseen circumstances, will once again be held at the IHOP restaurant at the corner of Oracle and Limberlost, just south of the Tucson Mall. We gather in the back dining room, munching and schmoozing until the magic hour of midnight, when we all start feverishly writing away on our WriMo novels. Many of us even show up in costume.

I'll post finalized details as soon as they're available, and will do my best to answer any questions that might arise.
