Yay! I was getting worried there! Worried I was the only one too.
I'm from Grimsby/Cleethorpes, about an hour east of Lincoln.
I love Sleaford! Well, specifically the Hub, my mum's an art student and keeps dragging me lol.
I wish we had artsy stuff everywhere here, it makes everything look so much more interesting!

Ooh.... I know where you're talking about (where you come from) and yeah the Hub is apparently awesome but I haven't been...Wish I did go but it just...I dunno. However, I have sheltered under it's porchy thing!

Maybe if there's enough of us, we could meet up in Lincoln or something...Always wanted to go to a WriteIn...

Yeah, it would actually. I know one on Lincoln highstreet, but that might be a bit crowded, depending on how many of us there was - it's right next to where I work so it's real easy for me to get to...

I know of several cafes, a couple of bookstores like ottakars(sp?) and a Waterstones that I think has a cafe as well... It would very cool, especially during something like a half-term or something...

You work in Lincoln? Where do you work?
My boyfriend normally lives in Lincoln, I love it so much! It's a beautiful city and the fact that it has my nearest Lush gives it a special place in my heart :D teehee
I quite like Braith's cafe as well - delicious smoothies!

Only thing is, I'm not sure how it works - I'm a nano newbie.
Do we get to know each other and compare notes and tips on the writing or do we ignore each other and do communal writing or a bit of both or what?

Awesome! Never been to Cafe Nero...But then again, I'm not an out and about kind of person these days. Say, LeighAnn, don't suppose you attend St George's do you, or are in Sleaford Joint Sixth Form...It would kill me if you are....

Oh hmm... Apparently my earlier post didn't go through - damn you school servers! - but I work at Boots, right next to the Starbucks on the High Street. There's a chapel and a war memorial opposite us, if that helps. Yeah, if you want to find me I'm upstairs in Baby, just look for short, blonde and Ri on a Saturday. I think I know where a Lush is....close to us, but I wouldn't stake my life on it....

Braith's? Never heard of it, but as I said, I don't normally go a wandering since I live forty minutes away but a meetup would be interesting to say the least - and oh god, now I want a smoothie. I had a lovely one about three weeks ago from a stall in a little market-y thing I went to. Banana, strawberry, peach and raspberry. It was to die for.

Back on topic, I think a write-in is a bit of both really - it all depends what you want out of it. I think it would be awesome to meet up and if there's enough of us, do some communal writing and then do some comparing of notes and tips and stuff.... But then again, I'm a complete newbie this year - only found out last year but didn't want to join as had too much coursework - Y11 sucked for that exact reason.

Wonder if people would be amenable to that... Could be interesting to do it before November the first to get to know each other....

Miss_Ri:

Nopee I'm doing A levels at Lincoln College xD

I'm quite liking the idea of a write-in, it sounds quite fun xD Writing and discussing etc.
Since there only seem to be a few of us, we could meet somewhere small like any of the suggestions. And before Nov 1st sounds good. Maybe if it goes well we meet up a few times after that. Moral support etc. lol

Edit: Sorry for the double post, I didn't think the first one had sent so I quickly edited it to Lincoln. I didn't realise it had already sent.

Wow, lots of people coming out of the woodwork!

I agree, I think meeting up before Nov is a great idea; that way we can get to know each other a little before nanowrimo and get moral support etc :D

I know where that Boots is, I've even been in that one! lol.
Lush is opposite the waterstones, near the cornish pasty shop and there's a Thornton's I think too... I live in Lush everytime I go to Lincoln lol. Braith's is a bit further up the hill... I think it's opposite one of the entrance/exit to the shopping centre if you head up the high street, it's on your left. But it has been a while. They do REALLY good hot chocolate too :)

What are you guys studying?

Yay! I don't feel such a loner anymore haha
I <3 Lush. Last year I got one of the £100 hat boxes for xmas xD
I study AS Law, Sociology and English Language.
I hadn't heard of Braiths... sounds like its somewhere to try :D

My boyfriend bought me the bright pink £50 hatbox for Christmas last year.... love it! And then he gave me £15 of vouchers for my birthday as well, he's so good to me :)

I wasn't keen on English Language when I studied it at A levels but I like it a lot more now! I suppose I was just far more interested in English Lit at 17 lolz.

When can people do?
I'm busy this weekend and next weekend is obviously Halloween so can anybody do a week night?
I can make any week night except Wednesday, and it'll take me about an hour to get to Lincoln on the train so 6-6.30ish onwards I'm available...

Hmmm....

What does everyone think about a meet - and when should it be if we want to have it?

I'm thinking Lincoln, if only because it seems to be pretty close to most of us - hence easy to get to... ANy recommendations people?

Heey!

I still think it's a good idea.
Me and Dannii can do Friday of this week, or any day next week :)
The evenings are fine... but I just had a thought that a lot of the cafe's shut at like 6... Costa closes at 5:30, Cafe Nero at 6 and I'm not sure about Starbucks... There's always like Wetherspoons pub though? *sudden brain wave* ^^

What are your thoughts??

What about a Sunday? (Mebbe even this Sunday if it's amenable to everyone if we want to get the meet in before Nov. 1st!)

Sundays tend to be a bit easier on most people (in my experience but this might not be so true). It might be easier to meet in the day, rather than in the evenings after school/work/whatever. A Pub is certainly another alternative...Never been in a Weatherspoons, is it nice? Wonder if they would let us just take over a table or two for a couple of hours!

I am told [by a very reliable source] there is a larger Starbucks in Tritton Retail Park (Opposite Morrisons if it helps) in Lincoln that has a big comfy area and seats and food as well...So there's an alternative.

Feel free to jump in with suggestions - I'm not a very good organising person!

Sunday's would be harder for us because of train times etc. The parents won't take us and pick us up. Next week for us could be quite easy anytime..coz its half term xD (Finally)

Wetherspoons is great, and they do really cheap food and drinks xD They have some nice comfy seats too :)

That Starbucks is a good 20 mins walk from the town centre, and again I'm not sure about opening times.

You got msn??

Good point about the cafes, I think pub is a better idea. I'm up for wetherspoons, cheap and cheerful :D

Trains are tricky for me on Sunday too but I can do any evening next week except Wednesday... (can't do this Friday - I'm going to see my boyfriend's show in Sheffield. He's on tour so I don't get to see him often, I can't wait!)

Oh, I miss half term! : ) lolz.

So this one's just going to be like a general meet and greet??
Awwh, have fun :)

and yeah, I think so (re: general meet and greet)

So next week, Wetherspoons and after 6pm.... What day is good for people?

Next problem: how will we recognise each other?

Any evening next week is fine for me and Dannii. But if others have a preference then that's fine.
Does everyone know where Wetherspoons is?
With regard to recognising each other, our train from Sleaford gets us into Lincoln at 10 to 5... so we're gonna go shopping and then wander down to Wetherspoons. We'll probably get in first. So if we all exchange mobile numbers we can find a table and text which number we're at. What do you think??

Slight problem, I'm a backwards person when it comes to mobile phones - I don't own one....(I'm really bad with phones) so is there any other way we could recognise eachother as well?

Umm, I'm good Thursday or Friday, I think...Possibly earlier but I'd need to go by train, so not so good those days.

What about everyone else?

We could all hold a red rose.... haha lol
However, we could all carry books, that's not overly conspicuous and it's kind of fitting :)
Plus, I'll probably be carrying one anyway to read on the train.

Monday, Tuesday and Thursday are good for me :)
