Hey, we need to gets some write in together here in Delaware County. I'm in Glenolden just a hop from Springfield, and a skip from Prospect Park. Anyone want to get something going? I'm still kind of new to the area so any suggestions would be welcomed.

in the past we have had write-in's at the Borders in Springfield (on Baltimore pike). I would plan something, but this year actually making it to write-in's is pretty much not happening for me. maybe some other people would be interested.

Callaflower,
Any advice for planning a write-in?
Do we need to warn the venue ahead of time, or do we just mob the place?

How about Mondays November 2, 9, 16, 23 & 30 from 7-10pm in the Springfield Borders?

BTW: There's a listing of events including the kick-off on our forum's main homepage: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/node/65 I don't go there often so I'm just finding it now.

I think it's great that you guys are planning something!
TheseusBlue, as far as advice for planning a write-in, you're halfway there with picking a good location.
It is a good idea to get in touch with the venue if you think you're going to have more than a handful of people. Four or five won't really impact them, but if you're expecting ten or fifteen writers to all show up at once it's good to give them a heads-up at least. And, regardless of whether you warn them or not, be good to the people working there. Having a bunch of writers camping out all day does make their job harder (especially when you all want that latte at the same time) so be sure to thank the staff and, very important here, tip well.
I'm sure someone out there has a spare power strip or two that they can bring from home so you don't have to bug your venue for them (I can say, as a former waitress, that it gets really annoying when people do that!).
And be sure to let Amy know what you've decided on so she can add it to the calendar!

springfield borders is PERFECT but monday nights don't work for me, unfortunately. if i bring my local friends that i have convinced to join nanowrimo, i'd have 4 or 5 (including myself).. assuming they can all make it!
i definitely think giving the staff a head's up & seeing what they think of the idea would be very smart!!
theseus, let me know if i can help!

"Hmmmm" Mondays are kind of hard for me "girl scouts" and Thursdays I never know when I'll get out of work on time. I can see if I can get someone on 9, 23. but mostly I can do weekends in the evening. Any other day I am ok.
I can talk to the Glenolden Library for a Saturday day time.

when we've had write ins there before we never had more than 3 people so we never bothered to let them know a group was getting together. but like others have said it all depends on how many plan on showing up.
I hope you guys get something figured out! and maybe if it works out i can get away and come for an hour or so. i have a new baby so it's hard for me to leave the house for too long.

Okay, so Mon & Thur seem to be out and weekends have been requested.
Personally, I'd like to create space for a weeknight write-in.
Tue works for me, and Wed/Fri do not. Are Tuesdays any better for any of you or are all Mon-Thur nights the same for you ("you" being the royal you for those reading the forum ;-)
I would attend a weekend write-in or two.
Please suggest alternate dates / times when responding.

Tuesdays are pretty bad for me; I've got class until 9:30 and work the next morning. I can do after 5 on Wednesday and Thursday and after 3 on Friday, but weekends would work best. Also it'd be nice if it was somewhere near a subway stop, since I don't have a car and never really figured out the bus routes.

Wednesday, Friday, and weekends are the days I don't have classes and could make it to something. I have no clue where Springfield ( I live in Devon) but I would like to try if it is actually anywhere near where I live.

OK give until Friday night Saturday afternoon to get somethings together. (dates for week nights, and Weekends) just give me a day or night time we are all available.
Hopefully we can make this work.

Springfield borders works well for me too, no preference for the night, really. If we pick Wednesdays, I won't be there for the last one of the month, but other than that, my evenings are free. I can also bring a power strip if needed.

I'm looking for a weeknight gig at the Springfield Borders. Mon, Tue and Thur work best in the evening (7pm on or so); Wed is okay, but I can't meet until 8pm, so I won't be able to host that night. I could attend a weekend or Fri night event from time to time. There you go. Good luck on distilling a night or two out of all of this.

Perhaps I could make a suggestion. I think what you might do is pick the night that is best for you, a night that you can commit to, then I'll put it or them on the schedule... Then, another person or persons could commit to some other night or nights and it'll go up on the schedule. One place can have more than one write-in.
Trying to find a convenient time for everyone or a vast majority of everyones is just about impossible, though fun if you enjoy trying to square circles or divide out pi by hand to its 2 billionth decimal or trying to tri-sect a right angle using only a straight edge and compass (this one I swear I can do). Ultimately, it leads to large amounts of frustration and sometimes to the thing you wanted to do not getting done.
The best thing you can do is to commit to a time and hopefully some people will show up to write and kevetch with you. Even if you are there by yourself, you're out of the house, getting some writing done, enjoying a warm beverage--perhaps even getting some character inspiration from the surrounding people.

I am up in the Germatown/Mt. Airy area. So, I'm looking at InFusion at 7133 Germantown Ave, Saturdays 2-4, for some write-ins. Any takers or any other suggestions?
Also, the Blue Marble Bookstore had some participants last year and they hosted an alternatively dated/timed kick-off event and had some writing sessions. I'm going to check with Maleka over there and see if they are going to have a go again.
Oh, less than a month to go......................

Hey everyone,
I completely forgot to log in here once the site was relaunched in prep for this year's NaNo. I'm in Yeadon, so anything in Delaware county works for me. The only thing is, there's no way I can ever make a Monday night write in unfortunately. I'm part of the Marple Newtown Community Band and we rehearse every Monday night. Weekday nights will work best for me so I'll look through the thread and hopefully be able to make something. Also unfortunately, most of my November weekends are booked (college Homecoming and various events). I'm just hoping it won't interfere with my noveling. I swear I'm November cursed because something has thrown me off track every year since I started participating!
So anyway, count me as a tentative attendee to various write ins in DelCo week night locations. Hopefully I'll get to meet up with folks this year. I seemed to miss everything last year. Doh!

I'll most certainly be doing a bit of morning writing at The Regency in Lansdowne, but I'm not certain enough of my schedule to make it a regular write-in. It's a great place, but it's not open late: http://www.regencycafe.com/

Amy and I will make sure these get on the calendar. Let us know if you need anything!
I definitely can't make it to Swarthmore, but there's a chance I might be able to make one of the Glenolden days.

There's one on the calendar for the Ardmore MilkBoy that I'll be attending. I'm afraid I can't really make it out that way much more than that this year, but as always people are welcome to set something up for their area if they'd like.

I know people were talking about a Center City write-in at the kick-off party; there's a pretty sizable Cosi at 30th Street Station, so it's accessible by bus and train. Also, you know, coffee and food and there are other shops around so if you need a mental break there's not far to go.
