Hello fellow foothills writers! This is Kristin, your deputy ML for Nevada County!
I've held write-ins for this area for the last two years, and the plan has generally been to hold the write-ins on Fridays, 6 PM to whenever we decide to disband, at Cafe Mekka in downtown Nevada City. Does this work for you? Not work for you? Give me some feedback as to whether you'd be able to make it on this date/time/location! I'd be happy to change it if this doesn't work for the majority of people, and if someone would prefer a different date/time/location I'm all ears! This would make our first write-in on the 6th.
Depending on your preferences, we could also hold a Nevada County Meet and Greet pre-NaNo meeting on Wednesday, October 28th--also at 6 PM at Mekka? That way we can meet and discuss strategies and get ourselves motivated! Let me know if you're up for that.
Also, I am planning on going to the Meet and Greet in Sacramento on the 25th--if anyone from up here would like to come along, let's coordinate and I'd be happy to carpool! My car is certainly nothing fancy, but it works, and I'd be happy to spend an hour in the car chatting with fellow novelists!
As a note, I will be out of town for a few days during November: October 30th-November 1st, and November 20th-22nd as well. The 20th is a Friday, so we will have to decide what we want to do about that--we could hold a write-in the Monday or Wednesday before, or the following Monday or Wednesday.
Anyone who has questions/concerns/wants to coordinate anything, feel free to drop me a NaNoMail any time. I'm quite the e-mail checker so I'll usually get back to you quickly. :) I'm looking forward to meeting all of you and having some fun authorly games, discussions, word wars, and whatever else our crazy minds can come up with! Somehow I'm not surprised to see you in a role of authority. I may go down to the Sac Meet and Greet if nothing drastic comes up, but I'm certainly down for a local one on the 28th... as soon as I get off work at 7 anyway. I'm looking forward to write-ins and such.

Yay, Cafe Mekka! I wish I could make the meet & greety thing... I might be able to show up late. Darn rehearsals. I'll give it a shot. If I don't have to do stage makeup I might be able to make it. =)

----------I skulked by the Mekka write-in tonight (yes, there's shame) and am looking forward to being there with my laptop next week. I was wondering if any of you GV/NC/PV folk are going to the Night of Writing Dangerously in SF, or the Sac meet and greet. What days are those things happening. Is anyone interested in adding a Tues or Wednesday night at Mekka? I definitely need the peer pressure.

Just an FYI to everyone--the last two Fridays didn't end up happening for whatever reason, but this Friday evening there WILL be a write-in at Mekka, 6 PM, the usual deal. I hope to see everyone there, regardless of what your word count is! It'll be fun, and hopefully we can get some additional words down and enjoy talking about writing. The end of November is right around the bend! Depending on how busy we are and what's going on, we can decide if we want to add another write-in to the schedule, too, before the end!
