I'd like to announce a traditional get-together at the Second Cup in Central Station from 7PM to 9PM on Wednesday. October 21, but I won't be able to be there myself (maybe, if I can rush of from my other commitment. I might make it by almost 9PM, which is a bit late).

Please. might it be possible for someone with nanowrimo experience to announce they'll be there as a kind of magnet for others? I believe this year's new writers would benefit greatly from talking to those who have already done it.

Actually, anyone announcing they'll be there will help others decide to come too.

Or should we pick a new day-of-week for these meetings to avoid conflict with the West Island Wednesday get-together? I tried to get them choose a different day, but it does seem to be Monday or Wednesday they've picked.

I'm available Tuesdays, Fridays. I'll be available for the traditional Wednesdays starting the 28th. Technically, I'll be available Mondays as much as Wednesdays, but I'd like to attend at least one of the West island get-togethers too.

Central Station is accessible from the Bonaventure metro, right?

I'm probably not going to attend this week, not sure about next week. (Depends on my workload...) I'd love to meet other NaNoers at some point though. =]

It'd be great to see others but Wednesdays are bad for me. :(

Mondays are out for me, especially this week (I'll be en route back from Ontario). Even Wednesdays may be iffy, but I might be able to make the odd one - either west island or downtown, depending on which office I'm working from that day.

Anyone want to post days they *can* make it? Wednesday has been traditional, but ...

I would probably show up on at least one Wednesday, even if there is a write-in in the West Island, just to see some new faces.

I'll probably show up for a few Wednesday meets, but I can't next week (the 21st).

I could make Wednesday the 21st, if that's what we go with.

OK! Most of you seem to be able to make Wednesdays, so I guess that's what we'll go for, starting the 21st for preparation, plottin, and general discussion.

As mentioned previously, I won't be able to be there, since I am committed elsewhere at that time (on the 21st only). But enough of you indicate you will be able to make it that it should be a pleasant meeting.

The meeting will be fom & P.M. on Wednesday, October 21, at the Second Cup just off the main concourse of Central Station (it's on the side of the concourse, near the end marked Bureau en Gros). Central Station is accessible from the Bonaventure metro station. Just follow the signs that say "Gare Centrale" and you should get there.

It's also accessible from Place Ville Marie, and the Queen Elizabeth Hotel, should you find that more helpful.

I'll see you there on the 28th, and you'll see each other there on the 21st.

Dratted other commitments!

Somebody make a NANOWRIMO sign and take it along, so others can find you.

Or post what you look like, what you'll be wearing, whether you have other than the usual number of heads, etc., to make you easy for others to find.

-- hendrik

P.S. I'm trying to maintain the same level of absurd jocularity that the official communications from nanowrimo headquarters use, while being adequately precise.

He probably meant 7. People could always show up early if they feel like it.

I meant 7PM, which is the traditional start time. I probably hit the shift key at the wrong moment.

I, in previous years, usually tried for 7 and ended up arriving anywhere from 6:30 to 8:00, depending on the delays I encountered, and my degree of organization. I doubt I will make it at all this Wednesday, but if I do, it'll be at least 8:30, or maybe even 9 (when there's not much point) My wife made me a conflicting commitment which I could not refuse.

Ye lucky ones, who can make it, aim for 7.

I have made half-assed attempt at NaNoWriMo for the last two years. This year, I'm all about meeting fellow WriMo-ers to help with, oh, accountability. And fun! But Wednesdays aren't good for me since the earliest I could be there is probably 8:45. I could meet any other day of the week though.

For Monday's meeting on the West Island, Shrike thought that ony two people would be coming. But about six actually did -- the others hadn't bothered posting about it.

I really don't know how many people will show up. I know I cant make it tomorrow (except maybe at 8:48, but even that is iffy; I thin it's better not to rely on me. for tomorrow.

I don't think it's too late to consider other days for other weeks, or even for this weekend. But I do think it's too late to change tomorrow. I do so wish I could come. I'll have no trouble with Wenesdays next week. I'll have no real problems with any day of the week except Thursdays and Sunday mornings. And tomorrow.

Wednesdays are great for me... pretty much the only day that works except for Monday evening, though I wont be able to come tomorrow evening.

Ok well I have red hair and glasses, and if I'm not already talking to someone I'll have my white macbook out. I'll be there at about 7.

Drat. I've just earned myself some work to do tonight, and I won't be able to make it downtown this week. Maybe next time!

My Transport is reserved.

Unless there are a lot of people on manual chairs there I'll be easy enough to recognize. :) I'll also be the guy with large 80s glasses (my fixed ones are later this week) and with a white netbook with a NaNoWriMo crest on it.

Ok so I'm only going to be able to stay for about an hour tonight due to the impending doom that is school. See you tonight JayBee, and anyone else who shows up!

GAHHH! Wrimos in Montreal!!!

I have class 6-9 on Wednesdays *weeping*... but I will do my best to drop by for a bit, a couple of times. Can't tonight though... but SO excited that there's a regular gettogether DOWNTOWN! (Must've missed that post that last year!)

YIPPEEEE!

By a strange quirk of fate, I happen to be working in the Sunlife Building today. That means at 7:15 or so, I will be at Central Station. Maryse and JayBee...you will not be alone!

Yep, our first Second Cup meetup was us 3 (me, Margo and Maryse. Oooh... the three Ms!). Glad I wasn't alone! (That happened once about 7 years ago).

Will their be a meet up every Wednesday from 7:00-9:00 during all of November in the same location or was the October 21st meet up just a one time thing? I missed it so I'm not quite sure what the details are.

That's certainly the plan. These Wednesday meetings aren't write-ins, though, they're more like support-and-comiseraton meetings.

I'm new to this whole thing.
Missed the 21st meeting and not sure if i will be able to make the 4th (my birthday). Can we show up later in the month?

There should be a get-together every Wednesday evening throughout November. There will probably be a new thread each week to avoid crowding any particular topic.
And if there's another night that works for you, feel free to post a new topic asking for people to show up at a particular time/place. Odds are good that you won't be alone if you give a day or two of advance notice
