It's only half-way through October and I am already really excited and ready to go.

Please tell me you guys are just as excited too?

Right now I've got three ideas I am contemplating, undecided on any of them, and I am itching to write, but I'm holding off. Though I will start brainstorming soon. That should help...

Just wondering if anyone else here was ready for this to start already. The whole month beforehand always gets to me. >.>

I now treat Oct as NaNoRe(search)Mo so I can have character names and places as accurate as possible for the story as well as deciding which of the multitude of stories I am going to start with and which are alternates for when I reach 50K and get bored or just sick of what I have just written.

I always look forward to any challenge but this one gets to me on so many levels that I enjoy it most because I get so involved in it. By week 2 I am cursing those who got me into this butin the end I am always smiling and happy to see so many others coming in across the line and have as much fun in the forums here as I do in online site profiles.

Happy writing to all

Yes, I am excited this year. I dug out my old Nano notebook where I've kept notes and memorabilia from past years. I have the most stuff from 2006. Photos from Gaynel's ML gatherings at Winnings Coffee House and a fascinated Schnedar looking on... soon to become our ML. I don't think I will come to the pre mtg tonight. I've had some dental work and not that social. But, trust me I'm with U Virtually. I actually like the virtual mode, but plan to come out of hiding at least for the KickOff. I have a big chart (an official NanoWrimo one) that we can use that night to log in (in case Schnedar can't make it or doesn't have one.)

Hey, Brendanstamp -- I never followed up on this suggestion from you.

they have 3 day writing challenges that may help you hone those number crunching skills
What? Where? on what forum?? I used to do the 15 and 30 minute challenges during the actual Nano season. They go for THREE days now? yikes!

Finally, I'm part of the Nano Rebel gang. (http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/forum/304) Some of you may like that, too! Glad to so much PreNano interest this year. Bodes well for a fun season!

I'm pretty stoked, it's my first year so I'm anxious to be a part of the madness. Just trying to lock down the rough idea of everything at this point so I can launch right in.

They have al ist of other challenges in teh NaNo FAQ but the 3 day can be found at http://www.3daynovel.com and a search for 3 day novel will throw up a bunch of others loosely linked in as well.

The Preliminary Meeting last night really helped me, though it made me realize that I had four ideas (verging on five), rather than just two. Whipping out a notebook and brainstorming was good. I've narrowed it down to two ideas again, and am going to brainstorm, on both, until I figure out which I really want to do, then I'll run with it.

I'm still really excited about this year, though. Even though I am going to be crazy busy, I can't wait to make it worse and just go all out.

Sorry, jumping for joy. I feel like such a geek...

The only planning I've done so far is that I know what the first three words of my title will be.

I'm still trying to come up with the rest of the title. It has to be someplace that my main character, a community college instructor who lives on a sailboat in a marina in a fictional coastal California town, and/or her boyfriend, a police detective in said town, might run across a dead body. All suggestions are welcome.

I'm going between excitement and the usual Pre-NaNo "what have I gotten myself into?!" panic. I'm especially anxious because this will be my third attempt at an idea I've had for years. I tried it out in two previous NaNos (all new material each time so no cheating!) and I'm hoping that this time I'll get it done. Already I can tell it's going to end up somewhere far different than I imagined.

Phew, I am glad that I'm not the only one who is really excited.

I do need to update my novel info, though, since I have changed what I am doing to one of my other ideas, and am officially diving into paranormal thriller this year.

So now I'm excited AND nervous, because I've never written something like this before.

i'm really excited too, are we a quorum yet?

i'm trying something completely different this year, a "what if" type of story that takes place in a country i've never been to, lol. thank goodness my brother lives there and will be my "go-to" resource. i see it as a chance to be really creative with my writing, so i'm really looking forward to the whole process.

and only 9+ more days to go before the craziness begins ... yeay!

Ah, I got it! I wasn't quite right about the first three words of the title, though ...

Murder on the Sports Desk!

This lets me do all sorts of things with characters based on my former colleagues at the Journal. Now to figure out who ends up dead.

I'm really excited. I can't wait for November already so that I can start writing. I keep opening up my text editor and staring at it.

This is my first Nano and I'm honestly a bit scared in addition to being very excited. I've never written anything of this length before so I have no idea how far I'll make it.
