I'm a freshman at AU and this is my third year doing NaNo! I'm a bit terrified about how the workload will be, but I've been able to manage in the past, so we'll see...
Anyway, just wanted to see who here was within my age group!

Sophomore at AU :D
The great thing about November is you get an almost work-free break towards the end of the month to catch up if you need to. Since AU ends the first week of December, most of the profs try not to give you a huge amount of work during the Thanksgiving break and make most of the work due before it. If you have a long trip home during the break, you're better off. I only finished my novel last year because I was able to type for about six hours straight on my train ride home. ;)
I'm totally down with doing write-ins on campus if there are any other Eagles out there. Last year, we kind of theorized about having a writing party on Friday or Saturday nights, it never came to anything. Maybe we can get something like that going this year?

I'm a senior at AU and I've never done any write-ins. I'm seriously busy this semester (two jobs, grad school applications, querying my first book and full time schedule) but I'm always available online. You guys can find me on AIM as danishunicorns or MSN as forheldeve@hotmail.com. How are your Fridays this semester? I have no classes on Friday at all.

I'd totally meet up for write-ins, too! And you're right, the workload will probably lighten up by November. Midterms are killing me right now.
Solita, I don't have classes after 11:10 on Fridays! We could do write-ins anytime then, if you wanted..!

I'm a law school student at AU! I'm definitely going to attempt NaNo this year, but we will see how it goes with my work load. I'm thinking that novel writing will be a good respite from case books. Anyway, i'd be up for write-ins as well. Weekends look like the best bet for me right now, but we'll see. I'm already ready to get started, can't wait for november! Feel free to look me up on facebook...

Classes until 4:50 on Fridays (yuck) and most Saturdays are fine w/me too.
How about Friday evenings/nights? I'd love to do a late-night writing party or something, anyone else up for that?

I'm not a college student but just wanted to pop in and say - GO AU! I'm an alumna (2005) and LOVE seeing so many Eagles involved in Nano! Woot!

Yeah, Friday evenings work great for me. I'd up for a late-night writing party. . . how about a first week of NaNo kick-off to get us started on the right track?

Another reason AU is the best college in DC ;)
MGC? Although I have a soft spot for the Battelle Atrium, although you never know what's going on in there and if it would be available. If the weather stays as nice as it was today, we could also do some writing on the quad? Any other suggestions?
I can't make the DC kickoff party, unfortunately. But I'm totally up for an AU kickoff party, maybe the Friday before NaNo? My mother sent me brownie mix!

Friday evenings/nights work well for me. :) I'm sick as a dog this week (flu -- not the swine flu, but a really nasty flu). We could do MGC or the Atrium. Both are great places for me. I live in Nebraska so either MGC or the Atrium is a good walking distance.

Since I've apparently become the take-charge person here (which is OOC for me by a lot)- This is what I've got for a plan- Please let me know if you have any suggestions, I don't want to be hijacking this thread.
AU Kick-off Party:
Oct. 30th 7PM, MGC
I'll probably make brownies- if you want to bring a snack too, go ahead.
Write-Ins
7PM on Fridays until whenever you want to leave. We can discuss locations at the kick-off party?
Should I submit this as an official write-in, or does anyone want to make any changes?
Everyone is welcome!

My only suggestion is, for the kick-off party, what do you think about making it earlier, even 6 pm? I have halloween plans later that night, and want to stay as long as possible...Also might come in costume....
Also...i will bake something, or make guacamole? Something.

Good point. I will try to come in costume too.
Changing time of kick-off to 6:00.
Apparently, I can no longer edit my original post. Hope everyone gets the message!

I'm going to be Embassy Row trick or treating with my roomies, and I don't know how early we're getting ready/going out but I'll try to get there!!
I should be able to go to the write-ins though! Thanks for taking charge, hahaha.

P.S. Where in MGC do you want to meet? Like, by Einstein's or by those comfy chairs? lol I've got a NaNo t-shirt which I'll wear to the first write-in or something.

I've never been, but embassy trick-or-treating is usually during the day, I believe, if that helps.
I lack a NaNo T-shirt, but I do have a Screnzy one, I'll wear that. I say we try to snag the comfy seats near the tavern. Sound good with everyone?

I'm a grad student in the area but I work full time, so the best time I could do anything is on Sundays. And even then, it's not always a given.
