Hi everyone. I'm Kendra, I moved to Wyandotte over the summer. I was wondering how many WriMos are around the Downriver area? Let's all get acquainted, and see if it's possible to set up a write in.

Actually, this sounds like a good idea. Hopefully, others from the Downriver area will reply.

Yes, definitely. I'm in Southgate. Tuesdays are out, except 11/3 because I teach a class. Michigan/Ohio State Saturday is also out. Other than that . . . I would love to participate.

I'm so glad to get a response about this. Lets keep up the momentum and get more people on board.

Any thoughts on where we could meet? I was thinking either the Panera Bread on Eureka Road in Southgate, or The Grind on Biddle in Wyandotte.

Other Suggestions: Border's at Southland or Riverview Public Library off Sibley (an absolute gem of Downriver). The library has a group study room with plugs. I'll bring a power strip!

If anyone else has any write-in location ideas, please post them.

Also, what day(s) would you all like to have Write-ins?

If we can decide on a place - or places - then I don't mind calling different places to see if it's okay if we gather there.

I've got classes Mon- Thur, so anytime Fri-Sun is good for me. As to where, it doesn't matter to me.

When do your classes end for the day? Would an evening get-together work for you?

Kendra,

My latest classes are on M and W, I get out at 4:00p on those days and on T and Th at 2:30p. Yes, evening write-ins would work great for me.

How does everyone feel about Monday evenings at a place where we can eat?

I get leery about bringing a group to a library... don't want to disturb people with our chatter. If we hold this in the evening, I will want to have some food. As our ML has stated in related posts, the cafe's at Barnes & Noble or Boarders are really not set up to accommodate large groups who want to sit together.

Can everyone get to the Panera Bread on Eureka Road in Southgate?

Who has a problem with Monday evenings (around 7 or so)?

If we want/need to, we can hold more than one write-in, at more than one place... I'm all for suggestions.

Monday evenings at Panera on Eureka would work for me, as well.

About the library issue - most libraries have rooms that the public can reserve and use. All we would have to do is call ahead and bring a couple of power strips. The down side of libraries is that they frown on the food issue. Personally I like Panera. Unlike Starbucks there are plenty of tables.

I'm definitely in. I'm from Flat Rock and Panera sounds great. Question: Will folks of all ages be allowed to attend?

Since Panera Bread is open to all ages anyways, I see no reason to exclude young writers. If you have them, or know they are interested, bring them along!

I'm going to Panera today, so I will scout out the place and ask them if we can invade. I will then send a message to our MLs to get this write-in all legal and stuff...

Who wants to do the same for a library? I'm free on Tuesday nights, and Friday nights... I'm also free during the days as well.

Lets get this rolling! we only have a few more days.

I'm pretty sure that the Flat Rock library or Trenton will let us in. The Trenton library is really nice, though I don't know if they allow too many events. I know that Flat Rock would reserve a room for WriMos, though. It's not the nicest library and it may be far for some people, but they're really good about events there.

I'm definitely up for Panera's on Monday nights, but the first Monday I'll be out of town. After that I'm good, though. I like the idea of there better than a library, because of the beverage and noise issues. Just me.

Give me a date and a time and a place and I'll try to be there.

Panera bread, on Monday nights, from 7-9pm is on. There are not many outlets, so please bring power strips, or power up your laptop battery of you have one. There in ample parking behind the restauaunt, and this event is open to all ages.

I'll send a message to the MLs and get this made "official"

I'm so late!

I work insanely early in the mornings so daytimes are out, but being in retail I don't have set days I know I will have off. Plus, my Monday and Tuesday evenings are booked for the next couple of months. Is there any way *or anyONE* that would be interested in an evening write-in on a different day, later in the week?

I'm in Taylor, but I work at Southland. The Panera location is great for me. The day, however, is not.

If not, I might try and pop in for a bit, since I'm not busy until 8.

I'm in Dearborn and I'm hoping to find a workable write-in and possibly some writing buddies. There is a Panera on Michigan avenue which is really good about accepting invading groups (I belong to some knitting groups that are regular there) there is also one in Allen Park on the hill at Southfield and Outer Drive.
