Moderator Note: this is part II. View the past discussionon Part I

Continue the discussion on Part III

It's a little weird. It's a little strange. It's definitely lots of crazy. But weird and strange and crazy are all hardly out of place for NaNoWriMo. And for some of us in the "I Hate Myself and Want to Die/NaNoWriMo Ate My Soul" veterans, it's almost a tradition (FIVE years this year, sporkers!).

It's the Sporks! Tissues! Chocolates! Sporkfetti! Postzillas! Woobies! Sporkage-on-demand! and of course, (((HUGS))). It's the NaNo Spork Room (thread), and we're BACK!

So, come on in, throw your troublesome Inner Critic/Inner Editor/misbehaving plots and characters into the Spork Pit, grab a spork of your choice (custom sporks and spork upgrades are available!) and we'll have a sporky massacre. *evil grin*

And no matter what, it's always okay to cry in here. Bawl, stomp, wail, get it all out, grab a tissue and blow. Then have a whole room-full of these: ((((hugs))))

Because you can do this! By spork, you can!

Spork on!

====================

Some FAQs:
What IS a spork?
Simply: it's a fork + spoon. :-) Have an extensive look here (Wiki Warning!), complete with a picture of a TITANIUM spork.

WHY a spork?
The combined spoon-fork=spork is a versatile choice of weapon: Three--sometimes more/less-- points at the end offer great satisfication for those inclined to jab-jab-JAB-STAB-POKE! * their annoying writing entities.

Its wide concave surface is perfect for those moments when you take a deep breath, collect your pent up frustrations/anger/etc, and let it rip as you swing the wide part at your literary foes! WHAP! SMACK! FWAP!Inverted, the convex curve is also suitable for scooping or 'herding' the writing entities (or otherwise) where you want them.

And lastly, when holding spork, strong and true and proud, .. it's been reported that somehow-- someway-- people can't resist to smile.

WHAT is a woobie?
/wuob-EE/ From the Greek Woobinus. -noun. Plural: woobies.

Any sort of snuggly something that offers comfort during times of stress. Made famous in the 1983 movie "Mr. Mom" starring Michael Keaton and Teri Gar. Often refers to a blanket that a child cannot part with under any circumstances. [Origin: bee_girl]

WHAT is a postzilla?
Sometimes the Sporky Force is strong, and it moves sporkers to take a little time and effort to sit down and reply to a long list of sporkers before him/her in one massive sporktastic post. Not required, especially when you're trying to beat out a a 1.6K words daily, but many have reported awesome writing vibes and karma for trying it out, at least once ;)

Hey! They kicked us out of the old spork room?
(do we have to re-set up camp? or do we magically teleport?)

I guess I'll just write my mini-postzilla here. Yay for having two windows open.

whitewolf - oh no! I'm so sorry you didn't get accepted (hug) that's terrible.
i'm glad you're not as stressed as you were over schoolwork, at least.

Kjesta - just keep your eyes open for new plot bunnies. they'll come.

pooka - actually, I am taking adult classes at the ballet company. I love it. I wish so much I could be in the Nutcracker with them... but they're a really good professional company, and I don't know if I could. Maybe if I work really really hard all year, and practice a lot, I could be good enough by next Christmas... *makes a wish* How did you end up doing it?

larelmain - could you alternate chapters? or is that not your style?

lurioosi - sure, come on in! We're much friendlier than highschoolers :) I think you'll fit right in.

KB - oh help. talk about bad exam timing. you'd better have a good time management writing/study schedule, that's the best thing I can recommend.

sushi - okay then, we'll all sing together! Plot spoooork!

oops, gotta go to rehearsal!

Hooray! New thread! (They decided last year to cap threads at 500 so they didn't overload the poor system.)

After staring at my computer for the better part of an hour, I did get a bit of writing done. It's still a very rough draft. *sighs* At least it's something. I still hope to have something readable before November starts. At least one chapter is already at the heading in the right direction stage. One is still in rough outline stage. And one is halfway between the two. I'll almost feel glad to step away from it for a little while and work on something else. Does any of this make sense?

*hugs everyone and passes out hot chocolate and cookies*

Another freaking postzilla... damnit, this is what happens when you visit people.

However, it appears I've created a demon with my adaption of VeggieTales.

From old thread:

S.M. Crosse: You were scared by the VT adaption?

ComfyDenim: Use the spork, ComfyDenim... use the spork!

tsuraseyu: A handmade cover? Sounds awesome!

S.M. Crosse: Flair is... okay, I guess. I don't do too much with it. Or do anything.

sushimustwrite: Can you provide a link for that NaNo facebook app?

S.M. Crosse: I wouldn't mind getting personalised flair, except that there seems to be thousands of flair that suits me according to my friends...

Pookaprincess: Your husband is a football fan? *noms brownies*

S.M. Crosse: Wikipedia to the rescue!

sushimustwrite: Morally speaking, you should just forgo Facebook and create yourself a wiki.

lastcrazyhorn: Organising things is good.

Pookaprincess: Will they be pirates who don't do anything? *sits back and waits for someone to get the reference*

S.M. Crosse: Pirates are an enduring theme, it seems.

lastcrazyhorn: Describing something as being shaped like 'this shape' requires 'this shape' to be in fashion.

larelmian: You gave a minor villain a back story and THAT happened?

sushimustwrite: When it's crazy, sporks fit in easily?

S.M. Crosse: I wish I could make brownies, but I have never learned how.

RobinCicely: Many people have started with less than you have and they still won. Take heart!

sushimustwrite: Winging it does provide some really crazy shit.

larelmian: ..wow. All that, in three chapters?!

Blu: Welcome back!

boldlygo: Trained to like it... ouch. I feel for you.

S.M. Crosse: I dislike the Snowflake Method for some reason...

tsuraseyu: Oooh, yay for your productiveness.

larelmian: You can remember a character from a random NaNoer's novel after two years?!

VespertineAlice: Welcome back!

ComfyDenim: Are you quite sane there, dear?

herLilKB: You're a NaNoholic, I think. This is the right room for this.

scribbles: *accepts hugs and shrugs* I don't know; I'm just... it hurts. A lot.

tsuraseyu: *hugs*

Bonnie: Knowing about your heroine is a good idea.

Braincandy: Some would argue knowing all of that is a great way to lose. :-P

lastcrazyhorn: Being unemployed sucks.

S.M. Crosse: *accepts hug and cocoa* Thanks.

Braincandy: Not literally shit, I hope.

S.M. Crosse: Amongst other things, yes.

Bonnie: Sticking it to the Man, eh?

Pookaprincess: ...that is an idea that could just about work, with giving them the workbooks.

Hinny: Welcome to our humble abode!

sushimustwrite: Belated good luck on the interview and stuffz!

Joanna_of_Blythefield: I needed something that replaced 'Larry the Cucumber' with identical number of syllables. Your name was the closest I could find. *hugs back*

PLOt SPORK!

boldlygo: *accepts woobie shield*

tsuraseyu: Be weird with us; we don't mind!

S.M. Crosse: Good for you!

angharad: Whatever you do, do not tattoo your back or your ass; it's gonna hurt like hell when you're sitting/lying down.

herLilKB: Oooh, an AUSSIE? Aussie Aussie Aussie!

anotherscribess: It will be okay! Truly it will!

S.M. Crosse: DEFEND YOURSELF! Vitamins, etc!

Christopher Turkel: And this time you have SPORKS!

Joanna_of_Blythefield: Oh, honey... *hugs tight* I had very similar experiences with my mother; it really sucks, doesn't it?

thegreatwhitewolf: Quite welcome, dear. *hugs and accepts woobie*

Kjesta: Go with what seems right to you. Beyond that...

Pookaprincess: Glad to hear you're having fun!

larelmian: Ooh, that sucks, hard.

lurioosi: Is it just me, or are most of the Sporkers married?

herLilKB: Well, the only known way to make exams disappear is to drop out...

sushimustwrite: You're taking your role as Archibald very seriously, I must say.

thegreatwhitewolf: I'm very sorry to hear that...

yoha_ahoy: *gives massage*

And I'm done; I'll do new thread responses next time... need to break for a moment.

Joanna: Hahaha. Yeah, no. My time management skills are... Hmm. I wouldn't say horrible. But I do often leave things till the last minute. Funnily enough, I still makes tops in the classes that I do that in though. One of the exams I won't need to study a whole lot for. That leaves three more... *sigh*

Alex Collins: Yep, Aussie :D. Sadly, I'm not planning to drop out anytime soon. Just get annoyed. I'm waitressing at a wedding on the 22nd as well. *groan* And yeah, a first time NaNoer but already a NaNoholic.

Any hitpeople here? I'm currently seriously hating on my math teacher. Rahhhh. *stabs her with a spork*

And now for Round two.

Kalitary: *hugs* Welcome, you!

lastcrazyhorn: Didn't I TELL you all to not play with the C2? Honestly!

Twilight_Moon: *hands over the Muse Sporking spork, Revised Edition*

Joanna_of_Blythefield: Oooh, yes... *works at the consoles, implementing the same defenses as before* ...and I think, just for you, I shall do something very nice.

ComfyDenim: It is a great room, the Spork Room!

tsuraseyu: Good to see you!

larelmian: If you have a rough draft, at least you have something!

KD Sarge: Almost too soon and not soon enough, really.

herLilKB: Yay! I like Aussies! And good luck!

So. I was invited to my younger aunt's (on my mother's side) yesterday, and my brother was there. I said: Hey dude and he immediately got up and walked away. I'm not too bothered; if he's got a problem, he's the one who suffers. The interesting part for me is that I'm not sure where this came from--the last time I visited an aunt (my mother's twin), I did not see him, but I spoke to him on the phone, and he was all 'yay we should do shit', I rang him the next Wednesday or the second Wednesday, left a message and he never got back to me.

My best guess is that he's pissed that I haven't done stuff with him (and of course being broke from moving doesn't matter to him) and/or he's mad that I moved in with dad (but I'm pretty sure he was aware of that when I spoke to him on the phone at the time of visiting my mother's twin...)

Blame mentions of pirates for this one: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XaWU1CmrJNc for the original.

Once more we enter the NaNo Spork room, seeing Joanna_of_Blythefield, lastcrazyhorn and tsuraseyu lounging around on beanbags, drinks and snacks within easy reach.

sushimustwrite's voice echoes through the speakers.

"Joining Joanna are tsuraseyu and lastcrazyhorn, who together make up the infamous gang of scalliwags, the Sporkers Who Don't Write Anything!"

The three harmonise, voices blending together. "We are the Sporkers Who Don't Write Anything! We just stay home and lie around. And if you ask us to write anything, we'll just tell you..."

tsuraseyu and lastcrazyhorn fall silent, leaving Joanna_of_Blythefield to complete the line: "We don't write anything!"

tseraseyu now sings out. "Well, I've never stayed up to midnight and I've never had a write-in, and I've never used trebuchets in ancient or modern lore, and I've never killed a hero and I've never killed a villain, and I've never hit the end with a snore!"

The three pick up the song again. "Cause we're the Sporkers Who Don't Write Anything! We just stay home and lie around. And if you ask us to write anything, we'll just tell you..."

lastcrazyhorn takes a noisy sip of her drink before stating: "We don't write anything." With that said, she bursts into song.

"And I never include Mr. Ian Woon and I never get the Last Post, and I never have a word war cause I never write no more and I've never bought the merchandise and I've never gotten haloed, and I've never hit the end with a snore!"

The three sing: "Cause we're the Sporkers Who Don't Write Anything! We just stay home and lie around. And if you ask us to do anything, we'll just tell you... we don't do anything!"

Joanna_of_Blythefield relaxes into her beanbag and sings happily: "Well, I've never burned a shed down and I really suck at baseball and I've never slammed my shoulder right against a door, and I've never defenestrated a cat and I've never gotten braces, and I've never hit the end with a snore!"

tsuraseyu looks at her like she's insane, which she may well be--she is a Sporker (Who Doesn't Write Anything). "What? What are you talking about? What's a shed and your shoulder got to do with being a Sporker?"

lastcrazyhorn nods firmly. "Hey, that's right! We're supposed to sing about NaNo-y things!"

Joanna_of_Blythefield says, "Oh..." This is clearly a revelation to her.

"And who ever defenestrated a cat?" tsuraseyu says. "That's just nonsense! Why even bring it up?" She turns to lastcrazyhorn. "Am I right? What do you think?"

lastcrazyhorn says, "I think you look like Chief scribbles!"

tsuraseyu blinks. "Huh? No I don't!"

The two are in each other's faces now.

"Do too."

"Do not!"

"You're making me messy."

tseraseyu immediately reaches the conclusion: messy = scribbles. "That's it, you're being sporked!"

"Says who?"

"Says the chief, that's who!"

"Oh, yeah? Aye aye, Chief scribbles!"

Joanna_of_Blythefield cheerfully ignores the two--tsuraseyu is attempting to spork lastcrazyhorn--continuing to sing. "And I've never painted a lawn and I've never mown an asphalt road, and I've never counted backwards from one hundred forty-four, and I've never surfed in ice-cream and I don't look good in 'Puff colours..."

tsuraseyu gives up trying to spork lastcrazyhorn and shakes her head. "You just don't get it!"

The three take their positions on their beanbags, finishing off the song: "And we've never hit the end with a snore!"

"Pass the chips!" tsuraseyu says. "And who's got the remote control?"

Joanna_of_Blythefield produces the remote. "Here it is!"

"Time for Idol!" lastcrazyhorn says.

"It's definitely time for Glee," tsuraseyu says.

"Oh, I don't like this show..." lastcrazyhorn says.

"Hey look!" Joanna_of_Blythefield says. "I found a dollar!"

I'm still swamped and frazzled. [Evidence #532 of the Day: my cell rang and I held it to my ear--while in the middle of coding--and said "hello?" and it rang in my ear (again). And then, while trying to answer it, I canceled the call instead. :P ] Hopefully I'll have some time to catch up properly, but I wanted to just sneak a quick response in:

Alex, Aw, Alex... ((((((hugs)))))) *tentative* If you want to talk/ramble/vent/etc about it, know you can do that here and you've got a willing ear [or pair of eyes, as it is], ok?

I snickered at the latest VT spoof, btw.

Brianna Rose, Welcome 'home'! ((hugs)) ;D

...I'll be back, crossed-sporks.

((((hugs)))) to everyone!

Brianna Rose: We Sporkers are very welcoming.

scribbles: *hugs back and sighs* I know. Thing is... what would I say? This time last year, I'd've had plenty to say--this year, a great deal of the things I am more distanced from. As to the VT spoofs, if people would like, I would be willing to keep making them. :-P

scribbles: The manga is Fruit Baskets, though I haven’t read it yet.

S.M Crosse:Thanks! I’m very happy to know what I’m going to be writing about. As for word padding stratagies, I usually don’t plan those. I like to scare myself by winging it. ;) As for the manga, it was Fruit Baskets. And my favourite team is the CFL’s, (Canadian football league), Edmonton Eskimos.

Alex Collins: ::hugs tightly:: Speaking from experience, things do get better. It just takes a while. I lost my mother in August of 1997.

Hinny: Welcome to Nano and the Spork room! Photobucket

Joanna_of_Blyth...: I know what you mean. I have no real life Nano buddies either. (And it’s not for lack of trying!) And thank you. I thought the title and the lyrics, (for Nutshell) fit the plot I came up with.

thegreatwhitewolf: Thanks! And that is very true. I once had a eureka moment while driving and had to pull over to jot it down. I still haven’t figured out what to do with it either, and that was years ago.

As for me, well we’ve got our own money crisis going. I had to call my Dad to ask for money. That was fun. While he’s got no problem helping us out, I now have an overly worried father to deal with. Despite the whole thing, I’m in a surprisingly good mood, but most people wouldn’t believe that.

On the noveling front, I had a plot bunny attack the other day. It was an older bunny reminding me that it was still alive. I’m keeping it on hold as a plan B in case the novel I plan on writing sputters and dies.

And on a completely random note, fog settled in yesterday and it’s still here. It looks really cool.

Hi scribbles, LadyYashka, Alex Collins, lastcrazyhorn, Kalitary, Twilight Moon, Joanna_of_Blyth..., Pookaprincess, ComfyDenim, tsuraseyu, KD Sarge and anyone here I accidently may have left out. I'll hopefully get around to doing a postzilla

*hands out cookies via a pair of sporks*

On the weather front here there is currently no fog (I'm jealous of that fog you have now) here it's just...night.

*sigh* I'm relieved, just finished our 'mock' exams today. They're not NCEA but they count on our reports, determine next years classes and act as our backups if we get terribly injured by a truck or a spork or something and we can't make it to the real ones. But it's over!! *dances*

Well, that's a random tidbit from me

The weather abruptly changed over to clouds and temps about 10/15 degrees lower today. I knew that this would happen as far back as yesterday, because when that's when my knee stopped bending. *sigh*

And it still hurts like hell today.

Knee brace time once more! Whoo. Can you see my excitement?

Weather here -- rain. Well, it's October. It's Oregon. What do you expect?

Concerning my NaNo project -- usually, I have some random idea. One year, someone posed a question as to how an ambassador would cause a diversion, and I wrote the first thing that came to mind: start a food fight in the royal banquet hall. Then I had to explain why the ambassador would do that. My first year doing NaNo, I made a mistake on a family tree, and then wondered what if a certain character had half-brothers, what might have happened to them . . . This year, a minor villain wants a back story, and she's intriguing enough that I feel inclined to give her one, which happens to involve a kidnapping, mutiny, and torture.

Concerning my current work-in-progress: This is the climax, so lots of things start happening at once. Now I must consider whether to seriously injure one character with a spear, arrows, or sword . . .

Alex: *giggles* Oh, yeah, I've heard those songs before. Oh, and how I remember random characters -- mostly it's only the ones I role-played with . . .

*hugs Brianna, Kalitary, and lastcrazyhorn*

herlilKB -- I think we've got a hitman around here somewhere. I think he's called Someone. Showed up a couple years ago after Eika pleaded for someone to shoot her. (I've got to go check the archives for that one.)

Joanna_of_Blythewood: (((hugs))) for your family situation. Hope it improves, sweetie! [segue] Fairy food is... hard to describe. It really tastes just like sugar with the consistency of a really airy petrified marshmallow. If that helps.

S.M. Crosse: Sorry your bf is sick! Hope you avoid what he's got, and enjoy Wicked! It's fabulous.

lurioosi: Welcome! Partake of the sporky goodness!

sushimustwrite: Glad the interview went well, and good luck with the next!

thegreatwhitewolf: Awww, hon, I'm sorry. (((hugs))) Have a woobie, too. And chocolate. *hands over woobie and chocolate*

Kalitary: ((hug)) for you!

lastcrazyhorn: We sporkers love our munitions, don't we?

Twilight Moon: Here's a specialized Muse-sporking spork for you!

Comfy Denim: Yay on your plot progress! (Fictional) torture is good. :)

larelmian: Yay on getting some writing done! Hand me a little of your motivation, huh? [segue] Hey, I remember Someone!

KD Sarge: Hiya!

Alex Collins: I'm again in awe of your postzilla, and that was an awesome song! I really will have to backtrack to our old thread for those. :) [segue] Sorry about your brother. I hope he comes around soon.

Brianna Rose: Welcome! Here's your Spork Room Starter Kit, complete with our infamous sporks and woobies. And chocolate. Or whatever confectionery goodie you prefer. The Starter Kits are magic in that they know just what you need. :)

Lady Yaska: Sorry about your money troubles, but I'm glad you've got a good attitude about it! Hang in there. :)

Re: me (and that sounds a little self-absorbed, but oh well): I might be able to squeak in a bit of NaNo planning tonight. At least, I hope so. Last night I got a haircut (first one in hmm four years [curly hair means no one can tell if my ends are uneven]), ordered new tires and set up an appointment to install them, entered my expenses from my reunion trip into my budgeting software, downloaded and joined a forum for a health/fitness related eBook I'd just ordered, tried on my new jeans I ordered through Lands End (being tall makes it hard to find the right length off the rack), and at least started online shopping for my dad and brother's birthday presents. Most of my to-do list taken care of! I'd like to finish the birthday shopping tonight and also order some sweaters for myself, and I need to go grocery shopping, but surely I can carve out at least a half hour for planning.

Though it would be good to get some actual physical movement in. Maybe it was a bad idea to quit my gym in August. But it was expensive and I wasn't going--too nice outside. 'Course now the weather's starting to turn crappy again...

But tomorrow I should also have some planning time in the late afternoon/early evening before heading to the dinner theater to see Phantom (but it's not the Andrew Lloyd Weber version). Fingers crossed that I'll make some decent progress.

larelmian: That makes perfect sense. I sometimes need to step away from a project if I've been working on it too long. Wow, that sounds like some back story.

KD Sarge: *waves* Hello!

Alex: It's good to see you too! I love the VT spoof. Very nice.

Brianna Rose: Hey!

lastcrazyhorn: I know the feeling, only it's my ankle. I hope the weather settles so your knee will stop hurting as much.

As far as weather goes, over here it's cold and wet...again. *sighs*

I went to the doctor to see if this really was bronchitis but he said it was just a cold. Well, this is one hell of a cold because I'm miserable. I'm sore from coughing, my head is all stuffed up, my ears hurt...now I'm just complaining. It just feels worse when I'm working. This cold and three 6-year-olds don't seem to add up to something good.

...and the weekend seems so far away...

Larelmian: Sweet! I'm now at least one period behind everyone else in my math class. I'm very picky about my books and asked her to write in my blue pen rather than her bright pink one. She walked off, refusing to help me. To make things better, I have a math test next week and an exam in three.

No avoiding the illness for me. approximately 24 hours after the boy complains of yickiness, I discover the same yickiness running amok in my own body. Boo hiss.

I'm so not motivated for ANYTHING right now. I'm all fuzzy-headed and my skin hurts. Yeah, like underneath is one massive bruise. Sucks, because my boyfriend wants to comfort and it HURTS so I feel bad and he feels bad and it's all-around not good.

AND! My throat hurts so eating the brownies I made...practically impossible.

*whimpers* Why do I always forget how much it sucks to be sick until I get sick?

AAGH. I can't believe I'm just now getting in on this. I've been in this thread for two years, and I always seem to end up hiding in the corner after the first few weeks.

*drags in chocolate woobie, purple spork, and a mug of cocoa*

*stakes claim to her corner and sets up camp*

No postzilla from me today. @_@ Too tired. Up too late writing. I -thought- I was being a NaNo rebel by starting what I -thought- was going to be my NaNo over the weekend--mostly due to my best buddy planning on leaving before the 1st, and I wanted to write with her--but NOW my brain has decided it wants to do something ELSE. AGAIN. This is the THIRD TIME this month alone! Rrgh. I wish it would decide.

Oh well. Maybe I'll just stick with what I've got right now and shove the short story collection about high school football aside for later. I have too many episodes of Friday Night Lights to start watching to do that one now. x_X

Can...can I have a hug? *cuddles woobie and wards off plot bunnies with spork*

::offers Anshin a hug and some chocolate::

I seem to be spending my October preparing by writing Star Trek fanfiction. >_> But hey, at least I'm not worrying about my NaNovel!

I'm already feeling NaNo nibble at my soul. I wish it would eat the laundry.
On the flip side - I made excellent progress on my NaNo plot line.
I've added an assassin -- and torture!!
ROCK ON!!
Oh - have some candy corn.

That's always awesome!

Unless it works on your plot.

Thanks. I plan to, especially if my muse doesn't cooperate with me, or if he makes me put another weird fetish into this story, like he did in 2007 and 2008.

Thank you. I will be getting a ton of use out of these this year, I think.
