Anyone out there from the High Desert? I would be floored if there were. I'm pretty sure I am the only one from my region crazy enough to attempt this.
This is my first year participating in the NaNoWriMo challenge, and I could really use a few "writing buddies" to keep me more accountable--so if you're hurting for some as well, feel free to add me.
Thanks!
Jodi Leigh

Hi Jodi,
I am in the High Desert. I live in Apple valley and work in Victorville.
Both the wife and I are writing this year and it is our first year as well.

Hi Jodi, et al:
I'm not really a desert candidate, but I'm hiding out here to keep away from the bright and shiny LA crowd and the over-eager "Let's meet at Borders!" bunch from the South Bay. And I always liked the name "Timbuctu" (I was born not too far from Kalamazoo, and I think there was some '40s song about the two), so I'm ready to contribute my 50,000 words to your word count totals and hope you don't mind.
I will be writing my tentatively entitled novel "Areyoufreakinkiddingme", one with as yet no concept, plot or characters, from my home in Long Beach, in between trying to conduct a home business, caring for three dogs, double-digit numbers of cats and six kittens, cleaning eleven litter boxes, and keeping Swanson and Juan Valdez in business with my consumption of frozen dinners and coffee. That's the bad news. The good news is that I watch very little TV, have no children to care for, do not have classes I must attend or teach, and am not a very good housekeeper to begin with, so what's another month of mess? And as long as my Muse doesn't decide to go on vacation I am certain I will make my quota even if I have to complete the last 30K three days before closing, and expect that with just some minor editing and reformatting I will have my entrant ready for next year's ABNA contest.
And I believe that, of course, because my genre is sci-fi/fantasy, and in that everything is possible, with alien intervention and faerie dust!

>.> Hi! im from the high desert ^_^ i live in victorville.
----------No thinking - that comes later. You must write your first draft with your heart. You rewrite with your head. The first key to writing is... to write, not to think!

I'm hailing from my front porch in Joshua Tree! Surprise, surprise. No wonder they call us "desert rats". Where there's one, there's bound to be at least a dozen lurking in the shadows...;)
Happy hunting...plots, words, characters, and incidents.
