Hi, everybody!

I'm checking to see if there are any active NaNos in Capitol Hill this year who are interested in setting up a write-in on Tuesdays (eve), Fridays (eve) or Sundays (early pm)?

Last year we tried Port City Java on Saturdays, which I think was too crowded, and Starbucks on Thursday nights, which was also crowded, but not as much as PCJ. We also tried Cosi, which had a lot of room upstairs and people liked b/c they also served adult beverages.

Thoughts? Alternative venues? There was a place on 11th st that someone suggested that I'm willing to try, if anyone remembers what that was ...

Hey Erin, yes, I live on Cap. Hill, haha, but of course you know this already.

A write-in on the Hill would be great. I'm thinking of doing my typical Thursday night Starbucks on Penn & 3rd (the upstairs is usually not too crowded and when it's cold out they get the fire going, nice and cozy) write-in, but would be up for whatever would be convenient for anyone else who lives in the area.

Let's definitely figure something out.

Chuck, I was counting on you to be around :) but I wonder who else is out there ... Peter, are you participating this year?

Thurs nights don't work for me this year, b/c I have class on Thurs. I agree, thought, Starbucks IS cozy with the fireplace and all, so I would be happy to do Starbucks another night as well.

I don't live here, but I work here, so I might be up for joining in on some weekday evening write-ins. Work ends around 6, or later.

I'm over near Lincoln Park, and I guess I'd be up for a write in provided I had a place to park my typewriter.

Oh yeah, I went there.

I live very close to Ebenezer's and it never seems to be prohibitively crowded in the evenings, though that's maybe a little far north for most Cap Hill folks.

I'm in H Street area, but willing to schlep a bit. Sunday mornings might actually get me out of bed. I like Cosi upstairs in the evenings since sometimes a slender glass of something is exactly the grease needed to open the floodgates.

I'm more on the Union Station side of CH and would love to get together with some people in this area....and I'm fairly flexible in the evenings and weekends....

(Cosi has an upstairs?!)

I am up for Sunday afternoon write-ins. Ebenezer's looks promising (although from their website photos, I can't tell whether they have tables), but I'm also happy with the tried-and-true Starbucks or Cosi on 3rd & Penn.

Just let us know what the final time/place decision is!

Sure, I'm still fairly new to town and Tuesday evenings and Sunday afternoons sound good to me.

Hi,

I'm near H as well. Fridays evenings and weekends are great for me. I love the upstairs at Starbucks and Ebineezers or Sidamo work too. Have laptop, will travel!

So I have reviewed all the comments, and so I would like to propose the following write-in:

Who? eskelly
Where? Cosi (upstairs) @ 301 Penn Ave SE
When? Sundays 12-3

Majority of folks said weekends worked for them, and I figured that this is late enough to allow folks to sleep in a little, early enough that you still have some Sunday left to do other stuff, too. Cosi and Ebenezer's were equally favored; I selected Cosi because a) it's a venue I am familiar with, b) they have a diverse menu for anyone who would like lunch or libations while they write, c) Cosi is convenient to anyone who take either the Orange or Blue Metro lines.

Please Note: I will not be at Cosi on Nov 1, because I have committed to the Kick-off Write-In at Barnes & Noble near Metro Center, but I will be there every Sunday for the remainder of the month. I ordered one of the NaNo hoodies, which I plan on wearing to every Write-In, so I should be easy to find.

I will also post this on a separate thread and ask the RMs to post it on the calendar.

Chuck,

There also is a lot of interest in weeknights & Starbucks, so I think you'll get some people on Thurs @ Starbucks if you post/schedule it.

I am going to try to be at Cosi a bit before the 12 write-in on Nov. 1st because I probably can't stay until 3, so if anyone else is coming, I'm the brown haired girl typing on a black Toshiba (or I hope I'm typing, but staring in blank despair at a black Toshiba is a pretty good bet as well...)

I noticed the Starbucks write-in at 5:30 on the calendar but I do not see a post about it. If that's happening, I will try to be there. I probably wont be there until 6:15 (or later) because I get out of work at 6:00 (or later)!

Can't make the Sunday ones.

It's one of the Kick Off Write Ins. Orion (aka Chuck) should be there...upstairs.
