What some friendly face-to-face support? We're holding weekly meetings in Leicester that are open to everyone. Come on by and hang out with your fellow Wrimos. These will be mainly about helping you hit your weekly wordcount goals, so make sure to bring your laptop or notebook. We'll have 'word sprint' challenges to help those who are uber-competitive, too.
What: Weekly meetings/write-ins
When: every Sunday in November
Next one: Sunday, 1st November
Time: 2.00pm until at least 3.30pm
Where: Coffee Republic, 20-22 Granby St, Leicester LE1 1DE (map)
Everyone is welcome, whether from near or far. We usually meet upstairs at Coffee Republic, and we'll have signs up so you know you're in the right place.
What's a write-in?
A write-in is a group meeting where we bring our laptops or notebooks and work on our novels. This is a great way to avoid potential loneliness if you are holed away pouring your heart onto the page. It also helps increase your wordcount!

Oh, excellent, I didn't know there were other Wrimos in Leicester! I'll try and make it, although my laptop is sort of broken so I may have to rely on paper and pen.

Sadness. I will not be able to attend any of the Sunday meet-ups.
Seeing as there are a good number of us from the university, would it be possible to meet up on campus some time/place for a coffee and write?

Oh, good idea, scunner! My timetable is kind of crazy but we should be able to find a time. How about Wednesday afternoons? Most of us have them free, if they're not taken by some society activity.

I will definatly be coming to the second one, how do we know who's who though? Will there just be a massive group of you sitting in the corner with laptops and notebooks?
Really excited that theres such a great group of us in Leicester :)

There will be signs, and we generally sit upstairs at the far end. Listen out for the sound of giggling and typing.
Oh also, if anyone is planning other write-ins*, and you want me to include it on the calendar in the regional forum header, let me know time, place and details and I'll add it on.
*And please do plan other write-ins! Best to make it in a public place but otherwise the choice is yours, anywhere around the county. Post it in a thread and see who shows up!

I won't be able to make this one as I'm out late the night before :(
But I hope to be at the following one!

For anyone who is coming this or future weeks, do try to make sure you have topped up the battery on your laptops. There are some sockets, and we'll be bringing extenders, but depending on the turnout at each write-in, we can't guarantee socket space for everyone.
For those of you using paper & pen, make sure to bring back up pens. You never know when you'll spring a leak or run out of ink!

I'll try and organise a write-in on UoL campus for Wednesday afternoon. I'll talk to people working in possible locations and see where would be a viable location. Suggestions would be welcome. I'll probably start by asking in the Scholar.

Hi all,
Might I make another proposition for write ins? As an ex-student person with a job and everything (get me!) I would much prefer meetings to take place in the week after work, sort of 4.30 to 5pm startish time. I have realised today that on a Sunday if I don't already have plans I prefer not to go into the city centre because I have to go every week day for work!
And furthermore, I would propose that said write ins take place in a pub! This coffee business is all very well but hopefully some of you out there will agree that a nice pint is also good for what ails you!!
I'm happy to set this up if needs be - or would a pub really mind a group of us turning up announced and buying drinks?

The problem with pubs is that there are writers in the group younger than 18 who would not be allowed in. But evenings might be possible, though with it getting dark from around 4:30 that might also cause problems for those without their own transport.
What sorts of times would people be interested in meeting on the UoL campus on Wednesdays for? I was thinking either 2-4pm or 4-6pm. Or we could have a longer "drop-in" style session that's more like 3-7pm, so those that need to be home before dark can still be there, and those that can't come earlier than 5 can still get some of the action.

2-4 on Wednesdays works for me because I don't have to hang around too much waiting for it and I can get home before dark, but any time you want is fine.

I'd be up for a mid-week write-in as well. I'm not sure how awake I'd be in it, but I'd be up for it. It also doesn't matter a huge amount when it is either for me since I have most of the day free.

Glad I made it to the write-in today as it gave me the boost I needed to get stuck in this year. Nice to see a sea of laptops and hear the clicking of keys :-)

I'd enjoy a mid-week write in, but I normally have to be home by about six, so I'll have to give them a miss.
