The Random Indiana Topic

Guy who needs little prompting responds first and thusly:

My first big news is that I *may* have moved a little bit closer to a topic for NaNo this year, which is, understandably, quite exciting for me. I shant reveal too much about it except to say that it seems like it might assuage my likenings for post-apocalyptic/near-future/dystopian fiction plus gadgetry.

I propose that in this li'l thread we also give an account of "What I did over the weekend and why it ruled and/or sucked."

I sold a bass guitar on Saturday. That ruled, because I needed money, and I needed to get rid of some stuff.
I went to the NaNo kickoff for Indy on Saturday. That ruled, because there were many cool people there, and they all seem to think that the weird things I normally get shunned for at work are funny.
I went to a Really Bad Horror Movie party Saturday night. That ruled, for obvious reasons.
On Sunday I practiced guitar, did some job search stuff, and worked on some rolling ball sculpture. All of that stuff pretty much ruled, except maybe for the fact that I didn't actually *find* and *secure" new employment.

So there.

Well, lets see... I'm planning on writing an "evil is in the eye of the beholder" sort of story for nano, based in a fantasy setting, and this weekend ruled because it was my one year wedding anniversary. We went bowling, to the zoo, to the old spaghetti factory, on a carriage ride, to the IRT for the showing of The Giver, and back home to dance.

I also should be working on a paper for my class right now. Anyone else procrastinating?

I relaxed on Friday night to prep for the big Saturday. Got up, ran with one of my running buddies, the took Marty McFly (my official canine volunteer) to help me pass out flyers along the route for next Saturday's Pleasant Run Run. Sadly, I had to miss the kick-off because I was already signed up for Nesco's Halloween Pub Crawl. We get on a bus and drive around various east side watering holes. My costume this year was Amy Winehouse. Popular ones included (in care you are still looking): Max from "Where the Wild Things Are" and characters from Mad Men. Sunday was a lazy day due to the pub crawl, but got the rest of my CSA produce processed and frozen. I now have a ton of frozen food supplies to help me survive November.

2008 - St. Joseph's Table

I still don't have any idea what I am doing for NaNo this time, but I've managed to get most of my outstanding projects finished, so my schedule should be relatively open. Except for the 9 days I lose on my Mission trip. And cooking the turkey later in the month. Hmmm. Maybe I better get something planned this week and hit the ground running on the 1st!

HaHA! That didn't take long! *feels successful* :P
Well. On Saturday, I did homework. A literature test, actually. On Billy Budd. It was... okay, actually. *shruggage* Just school.
I missed the NaNoWriMo kick off! D: So sad!! I wanted to go, but I couldn't becuase I'm just a silly 14-year old who can't drive herself anywhere and whose parents wouldn't let her go by herself downtown anyway and we only had one car this weekend and my dad went to work that day. *sigh* But I wish I could have been there!!
Welll... I went to church on Sunday and saw a friend that I hadn't seen in a long time because she abondoned me and my other friend Jacque because she got a boyfriend. But he went back to Ukraine with his family and he'll never come back! HAHA! My friend is back!! Take that, kid!
...Sorry. I'm jealous over my friends. I guess it's a fault. But I can't help it, so... *shruggage*
And I'm kind of procrastinating on my homework. I could be writing a paper, but my brother is listening to an audio drama. So I'll blame it on that. :P

Let's see, over the weekend I went out and looked at and tried to play a mandolin, and then I played some really nice violins. That was cool. I couldn't afford to buy any of the nice violins, though, which wasn't so cool.

I watched football all day Sunday. What a waste of a day (except for the Colts game) but I need one of those every now and then.

I am really looking forward to next Sunday.

Oh boy, what did I do over the weekend?

Well, Friday I had a meeting with my college advisor to discuss graduating. That was cool, except for the fact that they couldn't find my CLEP score for my United States History I class I took about five years ago, so I had to call the college board and have them send a transcript to the school, which cost me twenty bucks. Not so cool, but I should be able to graduate end of this semester, which is awesome. Afterward, my husband and I went to see "Where the Wild Things Are," which was also awesome.

Saturday I drove up to Lafayette for a midterm, which wasn't so cool, got to see my little sister play soccer, had lunch at the parents', and went to Worship team practice for my church. Those were all good things. Went home and made supper and my sister-in-law came over for a visit. Got a headache and wanted to go to bed about an hour before she actually left - not so cool, but it was good to see her.

Sunday: Church in Lebanon at 8:45, church in Lafayette at 10:30 where I played with the Worship team, lunch at my sister's house and surprise work day to get ready for our Reformation Day extravaganza, then over to a friend's house in Kokomo for pot roast (mmm!) and archery on the Wii! All in all, a pretty good weekend. Somewhere in there I did bits and pieces of homework for my classes, but wasn't as efficient as I wanted to be.

That's my weekend, lol. Lots of driving.

2008 - St. Joseph's Table

I just got back from visiting the University of Florida. It was awesome, and I have a lot of decisions to make about graduate school now.

But, for the next 31 days, I will be focusing on NaNo (and finishing my schoolwork) and grad school will get but a passing thought. Well, I do have to take the GRE soon. And write my Statement of Purpose so I can apply to UF before 12/15. But it'll get much less thought than it would have if it weren't November.

BTW, aren't "Indianians" called "Hoosiers"?? :P

Ha, this is a great thread.

I had some personal stuff come up this week that really, truly sucked. Every year I get excited about seeing returning writers and meeting new members for the first time, and I haven't been able to put much time or energy into it, so that's sucked, too.

However, you guys rule, what with your forum thread making, write-in scheduling, and all around fun n' games.

I'm pretty jazzed about the Irvington Halloween Festival tomorrow, then a nap, then some brainstorming, and finally writing one word after another at midnight. Things are definitely looking up ;)
