Hey guys and girls!

Anyone from the Townsville area doing Nano this year? We had a few last year and it was a fun crew to write/stress/flail with. If you've been here before, then I look forward to hearing from you. If you're new? Welcome to the brain strain and pain that is nanowrimo. <3

GOOD LUCK!

I'm a Townsvillian! It's my first attempt - hoping to get there despite going on holidays for about 10 days in the middle!

I'll be at the Central Queensland forum mostly, feel free to drop by and say hello to us 'southerners', I'll pop in here just to keep a cyber eye on you lot.

Happy Scribbling!

Hi, Rosie

How do you like your name said? You can always pack a notebook and pens for when you're sitting around the pool then type it up when you get back.

Hey there, Greg, good to see you going for it again. Will check out the Central Queenslanders.

xhan, can you nudge my memory for me? Did you live in T'ville in 2007 or in Ingham or somewhere like that? I did meet up with anghard then but know there were more Townsvillians doing nano.

Never got to meet any others but if anyone is up for a get together as the month progresses, we met at the Thuringowa library. It's got a nice little cafe area.

Also does anyone go to the Townsville writing group? I've never been and wondered about it.

I lived in Ingham at the time, but was planning to move to Townsville mid way through NaNo. Didn't get to move proper until December and by then it was all over. I'm here now though! And meet ups at Thuringowa Library sound good to me. It's nice there.

As for the writing group, I wasn't aware that we had one! But I'm not too surprised. If you hear any more about it can you let me know? It sounds pretty interesting.

A quick hello to my fellow nq'ers! Back for another year after tragically going MIA just in time to miss out last year, for the first time in... quite a while. Looking forward to hearing of the handfuls of hair pulled out, the friends shunned and the sheer joy of winding up on the finish line at the end of it all!

Greg! Great to see you back yet again - you've been a maintstay of the Queensland Crew for long enough you deserve a pension card. No long bike rides to disturb your frantic pace this year?

I'll be following along with you all, and no doubt teasing Greg if I manage to get in front of him before the end.

Time to have some fun!

ps. 3 weeks holiday = good. I'm NOT going to be writing 20k on the last day this time! At least not from the wrong side of 50,000!

Brother Coxy!

Well, I must admit I was hoping you'd break cover, and I'm thrilled to see you back again :)

Pensioner eh?

Check my word count you young rapscallion!

Cheers,

Greg

Hey, I finally stayed on long enough to get here. I hope the connection doesn't time out when I try to post this. Must be busy, busy.

Ah, I thought so, xhan, and a meet up would be great. I'm easy so anyone else want to work out a day and time? Oh the website for Writers in Townsville is: http://www.witsnq.blogspot.com/ I haven't joined yet, still uming and ahing, they meet Wednesday nights.

I did better today than yesterday even though I had visitor, (lol, Rosiepoet) and phone calls. I couldn't stop because I wanted to finish the chapter. A bit longer than I'd thought but half, if not more, will probably be deleted in the rewrite. I hope I can keep it up.

Some good word counts from everyone. Yay.

Thanks for the welcome everyone! I have to admit I was a tad nervous signing up for this thing but hey, what's one more challenge. I was a bit surprised to see that it was November already, and we'd even gotten up to day 3! Wow. I guess my head has been in the clouds a little as a new (newish!) mum but have managed to start tapping out a few words whilst the little monster naps. Have never done anything like this and I'm known for my procrastination so we'll see how it goes!

Ha, Rosie, it's called bum in chair and fingers on keyboard. Not as easy as it sounds.

After doing pretty well the first two days I didn't do so well today but then, today isn't finished yet, I guess. On track but I really wanted to do more. Never mind, I keep telling myself it gets easier as the story progresses and I get to know the characters more. I'm still using question marks for some of their names and have no idea what they look like until I introduce them.

Some good word counts already, go Townsvillians. There's a couple more from Tsv in the Far North Queensland forum I found yesterday.

Geez you people are on fire with your word counts! I'm going back to the CQ forum and getting the whip out... I thought the heat was supposed to make you sluggish. Curse that new fangled air conditioning!

Gnashing of teeth,

Greg

Ha, Greg, you're not doing so bad yourself.

How is everyone else going? I'm guessing you are all too busy writing to check in here. That's good. Keep those words rising, even a few words are a few more than you had the last time you opened your document.

I started off so well... and then yesterday I wrote a grand total of 14 words. But today I plan on fixing that and getting ahead again!

Hanesya: There seems to be quite a few Townsville people popping up. Do you reckon we should try to get everyone together at some point? I'm kinda busy these coming weekends, but I'm pretty sure I can spare an hour or two. And then I have the 14th - 23rd off work!

Greg: I'm making it my goal to keep ahead of you. Hahaha. The race is on mate!

Everyone else: Interested in meeting up somewhere?

Yeah, I'm doing as well as I hoped. I keep telling myself it gets easier as the month progresses.

Love to meet up, xhan. Anybody else interest in sorting a day between the 14th and 23rd? Come on, don't be shy. I'll tell you I'm pretty shy but I like meeting other writers, especially ones who are having a go at nano.

Hiya All :)

My little pep talk has worked... CQ have surged ahead... mwahahahaha!! Well, everyone except for me. On the bright side, the bathroom and toilet have been undercoated, and the unexpected work training day went well.

Xhan, I hope that I prove to be a worthy adversary. And speaking of which, if anyone lives near Xhan, could you do me a favour and pop round, and break three fingers on his right hand please? That should keep things 'interesting'....

I think that merits another evil overlord laugh, Mwahahahahahahaha!!

Man, that feels good.

Cheers,

Greg.

I've just been over to check out the Central Queensland thread... They're doing awesome! But so are we! Go go Townsvillians!

Greg, is this a bad time to point out that I'm a girl? Hahahaa. :D

Keep it up guys and gals!

Xhan.

Xhan: I remembered too late... like 5 mins after I posted. Unfortunately my hit man was out of mobile range, so some poor wretch up there is sporting a plaster cast...

Looking good guys (yeah, and gals). I'm waiting for Coxy to do his last minute charge to the line. How goes it Brother Coxy?

Ok, pop by CQ and say hi when the blood returns to your overworked fingers :)

Cheers all,

Gb

I'm starting to get into it today Greg, almost three weeks earlier than usual! It's less than spectacular, but I seem to think I know what I'm doing. Your word count could be a more inspiring target, if only you worked on it. :)

Hey, all, a bit behind but hope to catch up over the month.

Haha, I don't think I'll get between coxy and Greg. Should be an interesting battle to watch though.

Hey Gang,

How's everyone going? Hope that Week 2 will see a surge in your word counts, 25 k by Sunday.

The 'battle' Hans? Coxy is a worth adversary! The number of times I've had him on the ropes and bleeding, and he's sprung back at the last minute... scary. Assume nothing. Keep up the great work folks!

Cheers,

Greg

Wow didn't realize there were so many people in Townsville getting involved this year. Nearly had the impression I was the only one.

Anyway, thought I'd say hey. Massively behind in my word count due to Nano taking place during my uni exams, so I've had a late start due to studying, but we'll see if I can get that word count up a bit over the weekend.

Hi there, Nero. Glad to see you here. What do you think about a get together, prob at the Thuringowa library sometime? Xhan and I thought it might be a nice idea.

Yeah that sounds really good. Just name the time and I'll see if I can make it.

This coming week I'm free from Tuesday to Friday at any time, but working both days on the weekend. If you want to set something up let me know.

Hey guys and gals,

Sorry about failing to set a time and date to meet up last week. Life got really busy all of a sudden (as it does) and my guest didn't leave on the expected date (in fact, she's sitting on my sofa right now watching True Blood). However! Since we've got a few people interested, how about we actually start putting some details down?

I'm working Mon - Fri, 8am - 5pm, but I'm free on weekends and most nights. Come to think of it, would anyone object to a night meeting somewhere? I'm not sure where... That cafe near Reading? La Porchetta? Pizza Hut? I'm not sure. Hit me with some ideas people! (as I am clearly clueless).

Otherwise, I'll probably go and hang out at Thuringowa Library at some point on the weekend. Saturday, 11am?

Tired and rambling (and abusing the use of brackets),

-Xhan.
