Is that Nov. 1st, like Saturday night early Sunday morning or Sunday night? Saturday night (post Halloween) might be good, plus with the time change we get an extra hour of sleep!

Woah... wait... Extra hour of sleep? Wha? You guys have DLST here too? Thought it was just an East Coast thing.

Hurrah scribblegrl! Was wondering when someone was going to take the plunge. Had no idea there was such a thing as an all-night Starbucks!
I volunteer to continue the write-in at the same location later in the day. I won't be able to join you in the wee hours of Sunday morning, but can probably make it later--I'm thinking 9 or 10 AM-ish? I'm a newbie, so have no expectations as to how this is going to go. Uh-oh, is 10 AM on Sunday a bad idea? Will we be jockeying for seats, let alone a relatively calm space to collect our thoughts? There's only one way to find out! Maybe we can get a tag-team going at that little Starbucks. : D

Good deal, Scribblegrl! That's the spirit that's needed for Nano! If possible though, I encourage folks to get there before 12 am; the stroke of midnight start is really fun because of the feeling of the impending start to your NOVEL! You'll also have people wandering in for coffee after midnight in costume. Totally craaaazy out there and GREAT inspiration, plot bunnies, whatever for your Nano novel:-) Even if you have no idea what to write about, you can just describe all the people you see and what they're wearing.
I'm hosting a Sunday write-in, but not at the Starbucks which gets very busy during the day, and there aren't a lot of seats there. I'll be at Martha and Brothers on California and Divisadero every Sunday beginning at 1 pm until 3 pm, possibly later. It's a large place, lots of tables, outlets on the walls, free Wifi (which Starbucks doesn't have, btw), good strong coffee, pastries, bagels etc.
I'll be there this Sunday, at a table by the red couch, wearing a Nanowrimo t shirt. I'm really looking forward to meeting you all!

Yep, Saturday night, right after halloween festivities :)
I considered doing it at midnight, cause I know the thrill of starting as the clock strikes 12 is really fun, but I also want to play with my friends, so I decided to do 2am instead. I actually forgot about the daylight savings time, so I will be there at the new 1am (old 2am). If there's enough interest, other people can do a midnight starting party, either at the Starbucks or elsewhere.
Weee!

I really would like to get some sleep at some point, so I'd like to champion the cause of the 12:01 write-in. Let's meet at the Laurel Heights Starbucks to kick things off. If scribblegrl and others can't come until later, that's cool, but I'd like to get the ball rolling in time to get to bed before dawn.
Anyone else in for a 12:01 shotgun start? If people want to have a satellite site on the peninsula, we could skype to share the kickoff, assuming Starbucks' wifi isn't too flaky.

Skype sounds fun "D
----------I'm suddenly glad I'm no longer going to this con during the weekend so I can kickstart my nano. I'll skype from campus (as soon as I can run away from whomever I'm hanging with) if that's aiight. Not a fan of Starbucks and I have no idea where that is xD

I might try and make it seeing as I was supposed to be out of town for Halloween but the plans fell through, but I dunno. When it comes to late night weekend creative work, I always feel warm and fuzzy and natural sitting in a room lit by one lamp with little more than silence, the monitor glow, and a short glass of bourbon to accompany me. The ambiance of a late night starbucks is ALMOST right, but I don't think they'd appreciate my bourbon.
During the daylight hours, on the other hand, I need about all the help I can get when it comes to keeping my focus on.

I like where this is going, I can't say with any certainty what kind of state I'll be in that early on Sunday morning, however if I find myself sober and in high spirits, I'll be there with all the revelry that you're organizing, Scribblegrl. Otherwise, I think I'll end up with you, WithAnticipation, at a more sane and daylit time ^_^
OMG is this really happening? Am I crazy? o_O

I think this is a great idea! 80% chance of being there.
Sadly, never knew the Laurel Heights Starbuck's was 24/7. Well that in itself is good news.
Especially if I keep up with this. :D

Hey Novelists,
I'm very excited about my first Nanowrimo... I'll be returning from PHISH 8 on our kick off day, so might miss the write-in, but am looking forward to meeting some writers soon after. May the force be with you. ;)

I love the idea of the midnight start at Starbucks, but it's been some years since I've been a nightowl and a routine wake-up time of 6am does tend to make midnight outings less appealing. Hopefully my former nightowl self will win out tonight, and I'll see you there.

I will try to be there at Midnight.
I will be the one peeling off layers of clothing. Midnight on a scooter across town isn't as fun as it sounds.
Excited for my first NaNoWriMo.

I was here at 1:00 AM and am still here, but I couldn't tell who was here for nano and who was just doing homework and who was just grabbing coffee and making conversation after being out for Halloween.
(what I am saying is the whole post halloween operation is a bit distracting)
