Hello everyone,
Just wanted to let you know that a group of us from Stanford are going to be hosting a midnight kick-off party at Happy Donuts in Palo Alto (3916 El Camino Real). It will start sometime before 11:30, and once the proper amount of donuts have been consumed and sufficient excitement has been built up, we will count down New Year's Eve style to midnight, assume the noveling position, and promptly forget that anything exists beyond our laptop screens. It should be great fun and a good start to the month, so please join us if you are in the area. See you Saturday!

Hey, question-question. Best way to get to the kick-off? Maybe carpooling? I'm not sure how I'd feel about walking all the way to Palo Alto (and my RAs would probably flip, ha ha ha. Protective little bunch "D)
But that sounds fun so I might go when I figure out how I'd get there, lol. I'll probably be doing very little writing and a lot of chatting with friends back home who are doing a "virtual write-in" (although, by then, it would probably be 2-turn-back-to-1 for them).

Oh no, I'm not on campus this weekend!
I tried doing write-ins at the CoHo last year, but only one or two other people ever showed up. Want to try again this year?

Sounds great (especially the part about donuts one of the perfect pre-writing foods), I'll be there!

If I get heads up, I can get me and my friends at the CoHo there - and maybe spread the word to the NaNo class?

I've organized some palo alto/stanford write ins, check the write in thread :)
I didn't want to do CoHo since it was pretty noisy and not conductive to writing, but the Clark center Nexus cafe is pretty quiet at night :)

Thanks, Captain! I've added the date to our calendar. Palo Alto is a bit far for me to be at midnight, so I will be wishing everyone great sugar highs and writerly thoughts as you toast in the NaNo month!

If you do something at the CoHo, let me know for sure--I want to do a write in Saturday at midnight, but I can't make it all the way to Palo Alto! I am carless! Although I may just head to the CoHo anyway to start writing Saturday night cause it's fun :)

I forgot to mention that as it is technically still Halloween, costumes are highly encouraged. I might go so far as to say required. Ok, not required, but I'd hope that everyone can at least manage a silly hat or something.
Stanford Wrimos: Several of us are carpooling to Happy Donuts, but within the cars that have been offered we unfortunately only have one open spot at the moment. The first one to ask for it gets it, but if anyone has access to a car and wants to join in the carpool that would be fantastic, because then MORE people could come!
On the subject of Stanford write-ins, we (by the way, this is the disembodied NaNo class speaking if you haven't figured it out) are going to be starting up weekly write-ins most likely on Friday evenings, most likely at the CoHo. I say Friday because so far it has received the most interest as a viable write-in time, but I know there are some of us (like me) who would probably just live at write-ins if there were enough of them going on, so just tell me when and where and barring insurmountable catastrophe (or class) I will be there.
Less than 24 hours until a brand new novel!
