Am I the only NaNoWriMo participant in 100 mile? Would be quite sad if I were. :(

I'm a "yes and no" -- I live in the Fraser Valley but our cabin is just out of 100 Mile and I'll be up there for a week in November, typing frantically while the men in my family go hunting.

I lived in 100 Mile up until three years ago. Kamloops now, though, so I don't count. :(

Aku, i probably know you, looking at your profile. (thats right, I looked! o_O) you were probably in my graduating class. Possibly the one after.
I was voted most likely to over throw the world, 2007, (which would be my grad year, :b) :D

My grad year was 2008, so I would have been the one after. Which means I probably do know you, if only vaguely. I don't remember many people in the year before me. O:

It's too bad there isn't going to be a write-in option for 100 Milers, but at least you know there are other Wrimos out here who know where 100 Mile is and are busy pounding out words with you and cheering you on. We can show the less hardy folk out there that Cariboosters can persevere and accomplish those 50,000 words.
Hope your first day of writing is going well!

I just returned from your neck of the woods -- spent time writing while DH did renovations on our cabin and a bit of hunting. I was offline (no power, never mind internet) and got a fair amount done on my very weak plot. It's surprising how a couple characters can take a story and run with it, even when you don't know where they're going! ;) Let them talk a lot and see what happens. That's what I did.
I'm usually behind in my word quota every day, but I sit up at night and tell myself that I'm not allowed to go to bed until I reach it. I'm getting sleep deprived but am determined. Mind you, the 50,000 is arbitrary... some are going to manage much more, and some aren't going to get anywhere near that number of words. I have a friend that I keep reminding to set her own goals -- realistic ones -- and forget about the 50,000. Just use NaNo as motivation to write *something* [insert her/your target quota] every day. How about one or two pages a day? Hopefully then the habit will be well established and the "drop in the bucket" principle will eventually see her/you with a full bucket by the time next year's WriMo rolls around.
