Count me as in the High Desert.
I live in Apple valley and work in Victorville.
Both myself and the wife are writing for the first time this year.

Absolutely! Over in Joshua Tree here! Scribbling in a notebook out on my futon with a cup of coffee or a glass of wine, running inside to put it on the computer for the almighty word count! It's a bunch of tosh at the moment (such a lovely word), but I think I'm almost ready to figure out how to make it work.
Second attempt here...I think I'll make it this time.

Oh joy! Natives! I'm from Victorville, and I completely forgot about Nanowrimo until the other day. Some women in my Creative Writing class mentioned it, and I told myself that I have to write like I have never written before! I started late, but I hope to catch up. It's great fun. :)
