I had an account the year before last (and the previous year) - when I went to reset the long-forgotten password, it said it send it to me but I never received an e-mail. I know from reading some other posts that accounts get turned off after a certain amount of time, but the system still seems to have my e-mail, because when I tried to create this account, it said my e-mail was already registered. I've also received a regional e-mail, but not the usual welcome one from Chris Baty. I would like to recover my old account, or at least use that e-mail...is that possible?

Hmm. Is it possible the password reset email got trapped in your spam filter? Are you able to try it again?

I'm having the same problem.
I tried to log in using the password I had from last year with no joy on my iMac + Firefox, tried the same thing on my Vista PC with Firefox and IE8, still with no luck. I thought I'd resort to the password reset, but I'm getting no mails from NaNoWriMo. Not even with the new account I set up (this one). I wasn't sent a confirmation email when I created it.
All my mail comes through a couple of GMail accounts , so I've checked the spam filters there and found nothing. I've checked that I can mail to the named account from elsewhere OK also.
Anyone on the forums have any suggestions? I'm using this new account now, but I'd rather use the one I used in previous years. It would be satisying to finally succeed on it :)

I'm having a similar problem. Totally forgot my password and had to register a new account to post on here. I've tried resetting any number of times, and consistently checked both inbox and spam folder and no e-mails. It's quite frustrating. This new account will work, I guess, but it doesn't show my past victories. That's pretty disappointing.
I checked the thread, "Can't login and not getting any e-mails for password reset," and there was a post from a moderator at the end with a link for consolidating reports, but the link led to "Page not found."
I miss my old account.

Well, your past victories are set manually anyway, so you can set those automatically.
I suspect all the password reset emails are caught up behind the backlog of ML emails, pep talk emails, and subscription notifications. They're coming... it's just really delayed.

I had exactly the same problem yesterday. The email did eventually arrive about 8 hours later. So the system appears to be working but very very very very slowly. Would recommend you check your email periodically over the next day.

um....just not getting the Emails from Chris. I miss them and would like to receive them. I haven't had a problem in the past. I have no problem logging into the NaNo site, I'm just not getting Emails. Why? What can I to receive them?

This is not a regular issue, we're just dealing with a lot of traffic right now. Our tech team is working on it, and we're asking that you please have patience as we work through this bump. It's mostly just slowing things down, and we'll have it sorted as soon as humanly possible (we let Dan out of his cage to sleep at home occasionally, so he'll get on it as soon as he can!)

NANO is a charity event. They don't necessarily have the time, resources or funding to purchase the best servers, hosting or coders. If you are really concerned about the level of service then please consider making a donation. At least that way you are helping to contribute towards a solution :)

hey! i had this problem too, but I read the thread and figured I should just wait until I got the email with the password reset link in it. It finally arrived today [I still haven't gotten the pep talk, but I don't mind waiting for that] and when I clicked on the link, it had expired because I'd requested the password four days ago. Is there anything I can do about this? I'd really like to be able to use that account this month... should I just wait until there's less of a backlog before I try to reset my password again?

Go ahead and re-request it. I've been getting emails on my staff account pretty well all morning, with the occasional held-up email from this weekend filtering in.
