A small group of friends and I sometimes have writing weekends during which we will do like 20 minute word wars to keep us motivated to pump out the words. Would anyone be interested in having any word wars during Nano?

Though the "Tucson standard" has been informally established as 10 minutes, we do these at the write-ins frequently and usually even kick off at midnight on November 1st with one.

20 minutes is a bit much, but I do love sprints/word wars. Great way to smash through the writer's block.

I would be interested in word wars. I know they helped me during write-ins in the past.

I am all about word wars. Check this out: http://writeordie.drwicked.com/
I just joined twitter to do this. I'm HeatherLaRoja on Twitter. I'd be happy to duel. Or dual, as it usually goes because the typos are rampant when we do this speedwriting thing. Accuracy didn't win me those pens tonight at the Black Rose write-in for the ten-minute sprint, I'll tell ya. Pure speed, motivational prodding from Dr. Wicked and a PRIZE incentive do much for my word count.

(Now let's get back to the writing!)

There are some chatrooms on AIM that do sprints every night. One is 'nanointothenight' (or nanointothenight2 if that one is full) and 'nanonocturnalsprints'. They are usually in full swing by the time I log in at 10 p.m. so I'm not sure how early they start.
