Maybe you've read the news...maybe you've seen the new addition under the "Fun Stuff" tab. Here: http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/contest/donation_derby/1) But the OLL is starting a competitive fund raising drive to help alleviate the costs of of making NaNoWriMo the event it is today. Right now we're around 13-ish and I'm happy to say that we're among the most competitive teams in the world.
As I mentioned before in a previous e-mail, if you can spare a few bucks, great. If not, that's fine too. Times are rough and we all understand that. But there's a lot to say about the good karma that comes with the donor's halo. Statistics have shown that there are a higher percentage of winners among donors than non-donors.
But there's more than one way to get your karma this year. Yes there's always Goodsearch....but there are other ways too.
As an ML I get a donor halo anyway due to the donation of time rather than money. But I still like to give a little monetary something because this activity really has had a positive impact on my life.
Last year I decided to help spread the good karma by using my donation to give donor halos to a few of you who needed the bump. This year I would like to do the same thing. If you TRULY cannot donate to NaNo for any reason (don't need to share...I'll take your word for it) and you feel like you could use the good karma, send me a nanomail and I will make a $10 donation in your name...enough for a halo. I don't need any personal info from you at all. All I need is your forum name.
I can only take a few of you. But I'm not going to say how many. I'll edit this post letting you know I've hit my limit.
