Oh, you silly stay-uppers and early-risers with your word counts! Today is the first day of NaNoWriMo 2009, and you can cut the enthusiasm in the air and butter toast with it.

Being the first day, I hope everyone is pretty gung ho about at least meeting your goals. But, I just know some of you Little Lebowski Urban Achievers are going above and beyond.

Who's vowing to hit 1667 today? If you're on track for that for the rest of the month you are practically guaranteed to win!

Do I hear a 3000? What about a 5000? 7500? 10000?!?

Peh, I'm at least aiming for 2000. Thats my daily goal, because I've got college essays due this month too, so I can hopefully take a few days off and shove those out of the way. No more time slacking off in that three-hour period I have between classes.

And, hopefully, if you're coming to the write-in tonight, we'll hear someone scream "IT'S OVER NINE THOUSAND!!!"

I'm trying for 10,000, although it's a big goal. I already have around 6,000 written, though.

Everyone is so ambitious! Since I have an entire speech to write for a class today(yay procrastination?) I'm aiming for 2,000.
So far I have nothing! Go me!

I'm hoping to reach 5000, but the day is sooo nice. Figures--the weather was for writing last week.

I'm well on my way to 5,000, so I'm really just seeing where the day takes me.

I've never been much of a sprinter - writing, running or otherwise. I only decided to write this a week ago, and I'm still well in the throes of planning, so I picked a scene near the beginning I'm pretty sure of and kicked out a quick 1700 words, then went back to getting my stuff organized. Characters, history, research, timeline... I've got plenty to keep me busy today.

Huh, my goal was 2000 and I nearly pulled out double that, and all of it seems pretty good. I get this feeling this isn't going to be as hard as I thought. (Famous last words?)

YES!!! My goal was 2,090 and I'm at 3,443. Since this is my first time at writing anything more than a poem or a short story in highschool (which was quite some years ago by the way), the relationship I'm developing with my MC is surprising and exciting all at the same time. I love this!! =)

I hope to get up to 3000 words today. I'm already close to 1800 and I plan to write after the kids go to bed EARLY. (One of the nice benefits of losing Daylight Savings time.)

I figured I'd be happy today if I hit 2 or 3 thousand.

You can see how that worked out for me. o.O

final word count for day 1 is 1412. Might write a bit more before I go to bed-- get a head start on day 2. Didn't reach my goal today but plan to make up for it tomorrow =]
