Hello there. So whats on your iPod, iTunes, MP3 or other music players that you use to write to? I'm trying to find some upbeat and fun music to write to. I have a lot but I'm looking for more.

Good songs!

I seem to be working on my playlist more than my novel, too. I have 26 songs on my playlist right now and zero words on my novel.

I may be the weirdo here, but I don't generally write well when listening to music. I really focus on music and lyrics when it is playing, and find it too distracting to be productive in a lot of other tasks.

I do have workout playlists, because exercise sucks and I can focus on the music and tune out the unpleasant task of sweating.

One of my workout playlists includes:
Candyman (Christina Aguilera)
Harder to breathe (Forgot the name of the band)
Lady Marmelade (Aguilera, Pink, etc)
London Bridge (Fergie)
That's Not My Name (Forgot the name of this band too)
Hollaback Girl (Gwen Stefani)
She Talks to Angels (Counting Crows? - I'm really bad with names)

My husband has been home the last 2 days while I was writing and as is his manly right, he has had control of the stereo. That means my playlist has consisted of various death and speed metal bands with a really odd sojourn into gangsta rap with an hour of NWA--where did that come from? Anyway, his weekend is over and my time has come so I'm thinking there will be a definite change in musical venue. Probably some go gos, some Matchbox 20, a little Counting Crows, and probably just a hint of country thrown in for color.

Massive thumbs up. Oasis is my all time favorite band.

Yesterday I had some old videos (DVRd 120 Minutes on VH1 Classic) on in the background, and I was really enjoying all the Paul Weller -- played both a Style Council and a Jam video. I had a bit of a dance break when Berlin's "The Metro" came on.

Today, I plan on hitting shuffle and see what comes up. It takes this first week to really settle into the right music for the mood.

This year much of my playlist will be
Gogol Bordello (you can't get sleepy listening to Gypsy Punk)
and
Jason Webley (just because his music makes people do strange things)
