Prompt one. I'm posting it here because my comp is being mean once again, I'll edit this post later when I can get word to save properly again.
Dear John,
How ya doin? It’s gotta be cold up there. I’ll send ya up some jackets soon, bless you poor little heart. Stay safe write back. Know we love you John, and don’t worry about money. I got myself a second job so we’ll be just fine. You’ll see everything will be back to normal soon. Write back.
Love,
Ma Mere
John looked at the letter and wanted to tear it up. She didn’t care about him or anything. She wanted her little world to be back to normal, she had no clue the pain he was in. He had lost everything and she was treating it like some kind of phase he would grow out of. After a few minutes the anger subsided and John pulled out a sheet of paper and began to write.
Dear Ma Mere,
----------I’m doing just fine. It’s getting colder than I’m used to but it’s nice. The leaves actually change color here which is different. Cold you send me Pawpaw’s old bomber jacket? It’s nice and it doesn’t let in rain like my others do. The rain is the same and just as frequent. You’d love it here Ma Mere, it is really beautiful. Don’t work too hard. Billy is sixteen now ain’t he? He could get a job at Calandro’s or Frost top to help out. I might start working on campus to help out as well. Jai t’aime.
You Son,
JP

Your main character is having technological issues. How will they deal with them? Tech support, a nice glass of wine, or gratuitous violence?

John fixed the microwave Cameron unplugged it, replugged it, hit the top of it hard with her fist and forearm and then threw it out of a third story window into a dumpster below with her roommates soup still in it..... Cameron scares me sometimes

Ok do we post the part that we used the prompt? Or do we just post saying that we used it? Cause, I'm writing it down in a notebook before I type it all up. I didn't get to start on Nov. 1, but I started at 2 pm on Nov 2 and so far I have 3973 words. I used the prompt for Nov. 1 already and I'm working to get to a point where I can use the prompt for Nov. 2. And I think I might have earned the word padding badge. I had one of my characters read to a child out of the Bible. Does that count? It was the whole chapter of Daniel 6 (Daniel and the Lions' Den).
I also have a question about the 5000 words in a day award. Is that within 24 hours or from 12 midnight to 11:59 pm? Cause at the rate I'm going I might hit the 5000 word mark before 2 pm. But I've missed it for the 11:59 pm mark.
Thanks for answering my questions. I'm sorry I didn't make it to CCs on Sunday, something came up and I wasn't able to make it.

Today's prompt fit perfectly into my novel:
Frog had been hiding out in the woods trying to avoid the pigs who were after him. He didn't mean to kill John. It wasn't even his battle. He was defending Bull, their drummer.
When he started to sneak back into town by way of one of the local back roads he saw a single New Balance tennis shoe smashed into the road. It had been run over by a car being driven by one of the pigs on their way to the Krispy Kream Donut Shop.

Ok I had my MFC ask her two year old daughter where the old tennis shoe came from and Grace replied, "My squishy shoe!" And MFC's boyfriend/fiencé told how he and Grace were walking and Grace spotted the tennis shoe in the middle of the road and since it was by itself and it was smushed in the middle of the road, he didn't think anyone was looking for it and he didn't see any harm in Grace having it.
I know Yucky. But hey. Men sometimes don't get it. And of course two year olds don't get it. And it will be a long time before Grace will let Mommy throw it away. It's her squishy shoe now. LOL
Oh and because of this, I hit 8860 words right before I went to bed. LOL Otherwise I would have had only 8760 So hey the word promt added a hundred words! Yeah for word prompts!

Your main character is struck down with a vicious cold. Her head feels like it is in a vice, or maybe it really is in one? You decide.

While doing this prompt, I hit the 10,000 mark!!!!!!! Yeah Me!!!! LOL
Ok this going to be interesting. The last time my MC had a vicious cold, she was doped up on NiQuell and was raped. So it's going to be interesting how she handles this. Is she going to take meds? Or is she going to suffer through it. And it's Thursday morning and on Sat night she's supposed to be getting baptized. Oh boy! Might have to post pone the baptismal. LOL

I just can't seem to maime my main character. He already has so many problems. So with a little creativity, I may still have won my sticker for today. How about this...
All the guys met up at the hideout, and to kill time until Snake got there they decided to play a game of cards. Frog shuffled the cards and passed them out. Unfortunately he lost this hand.
Yuck, yuck. Pretty pitiful, hu? What we won't due for a Klondike bar or a sticker. (Yes, I know...I'm a lousy speller!)

Ok I got this word prompt in my novel and the lost hand in the novel. I hope it's not cheating that the lost hand is an unknown character in the ER and that the "It's all fun and games....until it's a scavenger hunt." is someone changing the channel in the ER waiting room.

Like I said at the write-in, the 'loses a hand' thing can be an appendage or can refer to a card game. no need to be over macabre.
btw Midnight, how's you get the cool calendar widget at the bottom of your posts?

"Matt, I learned at age 7 never to argue with a woman in love," David said.
"How did you learn that at age 7?"
"That's when Bethany told me we were going to get married."
Note: David and Bethany have been married for a few years now and are now expecting their second child. So, does this count as the word prompt challenage?
:::Midnight Writer crossing fingures::: So far have all word prompts in my novel. LOL
