[Editor's Note: If you've already signed up on our regional word war thread (as of 3pm on the 3rd of November), then you're on the participant list that I've submitted to Elumir, and don't need to email him yourself. Unless, of course, you want to be removed from the London/Toronto word war, in which case he is the person to contact! ~ Lily]

Alllooo London!

How are you? I hope you are doing well. I've noticed that you have a scoreboard. I may be confused, but it looks like you normally compete against other regions. Is this the first time you are competing with another country?

Anyway, I was wondering if you would please join our scoreboard here:

http://www.torontonano.org/WordWar/

This is a running tally of every person participating, the average, as well as a chat room.

And for those of you who haven't joined yet, JOIN! It's a great amount of fun! Come to our chat room! Watch your wordcount rise!

From the looks of your scoreboard, you normally have on average about 20 people that participate in the regional word wars! And according to your regional info, about 45% are new!

Are you new to Nanowrimo? Join the word war! We have MANY new people that have joined the word war in Toronto this year, it's quite exciting. Before, we always put a cap on how many people could join, but NOW! Huzzah! We opened the sluicegates and they're pouring in. I think we have over 50 (I haven't added them yet to the scoreboard).

And do you know how fun chat is? Last year, I wrote 60k for my novel. We calculated the stats of chat, and I wrote 75k in chat alone. That is how fun chat is.

In fact, I am your best weapon. Why? Because my job is to socialize with as many people as possible in Toronto... especially during writing session.

We're not scary! Join our chat! Join the word war! Make videos! I make videos too... I do everything in my power to distract my teammates. [emo] They're not that particularly fond of me. *sniff* [/emo] I'm kidding.

So, please join the word war. If you haven't, then I'll subject you all to a video I'll make JUST for you. Trust me, you don't want that.

By the way, here are instructions on getting yourself added to the scoreboard. If you're on the word war team, pretty please, can you send them to me?

  • Go to your profile
(If you don't know how, click on your name on any message you wrote)

  • In the URL bar, you will see something like
    http://www.nanowrimo.org/eng/user/183952

  • See that number? That is your USERID! Copy it! Cajole it! Caress it! I NEED that number
  • Start an email to me at errol@elumir.com
  • Set the subject to: [Nanowrimo] Word War 2009 - London
(This is important, because if you put Toronto, or NOTHING, I'm putting you on the Toronto team)

  • The contents of your email should be:

    '[USERID]', // [USERNAME]

    for example

    '183952', // Errol

Feel free just to copy the above and insert your own stuff.

  • Buy me a coffee

Darn it, this went on way longer than I intended. That means I'll get a TL;DR and I'll just have to condense myself tomorrow if this post gets lost in the annals of the back pages. *sigh* And then I'LL get in trouble from my ML because I'm posting in other region's forums again... *le sigh*

Darn it, sorry for double posting. I can't edit my original post. *SIGH*

If you are wary about sending some strange Canadian an email, feel free to nanomail me. Huzzah!

Don't post in this thread... I probably won't check it because subscriptions still don't work on the forums. At least, they haven't for me.

Huzzah! Look, I'm triple posting!

So... I'm noticing a lot of people signing up on the word war thread.

And no one is sending me emails.

Now... I'm not really that lonely that I need your emails. But it would be great to see you guys on the charts.

This is a subtle hint. :D

Dearest London,

MissEricaCourt has alerted me to the fact that your individual refresh buttons weren't working! Well, I fixed that. They work now.

All of you in thralls of panic can rest at ease.

No need to thank me. I do it for the love of word wars alone.

Dearest London,

Allo! I hope you guys are doing well.

So I had time last night and put all your usernames in my word war database. So now when you check out the website, it should be up to date. Unless someone signed up between last night and now.

I even went and put all the other users from your region in, but I didn't bother calculating stats. I may though, just for fun.

Take care, and give my love to mum,

Errol

Dearest London,

Sorry I haven't written in a while. Things have been busy over in Toronto. There was a lot of drama that happened, which was a lot of fun but took up a bit of my time.

However, things are back together, the chat is going well. We now have Deathbot in there that not only does word wars, but also kills me (Errol). There is much rejoicing. I have been wanting a word war bot for some time.

We have also done some cuts to the word war teams, as you may be aware of. So what you see now in

http://www.torontonano.org/WordWar/

should be up to date.

I have also heard that it is illegal for children under 16 to pump gas over there. Since I make my 8 year old daughter do this for me when I get coffee, this was of concern to me.

I hope that neglecting them isn't against the law over there. Here is a video of my children that I made in 2007 for Nanowrimo:

All my love,

Errol
