(yes, for some reason, I've picked up the British spelling of favourite. Doesn't it look so much nicer?)
Does anyone have a for-certain favourite character of your own (this NaNo or not) that you blamelessly adore above all the rest?
Yes, I do.
And he's dead! *wails*
Robin: I'm right here, you goof.
Me: *smothers*
---
Sorry if that was incoherent. I spent all last year with him (and Marian and Much) and now he's dead before this one even starts! Aaaaah!
I'm consoling myself with flashbacks.
Robin: Yes. LOTS of flashbacks.
Me: Be quiet.

Lilila. Who has had a million and a half incarnations before my NaNo incarnation of her. But this one is my second favorite. <3 My first favorite one wasn't so cold. XD Or downright childish sometimes.
I''m also in0love with my vampire twins, who were my first two characters created EVAR! <3<3<3 They haven't changed much, but Phreaq has become much more reserved in NaNo and Isabeau has admitted somehow become the villainness and has pretty much given up niceness. >>" *crys a bit inside* Ah well...

I'm biased towards Victor in my book. I always have been. I mean, I love all my secondary characters and MCs are usually not my best characters, but Vicky...well, I felt extremely wrong thinking of killing him when poetoffire suggested it to me on the way back from Omaha. I'm usually one to torture and kill characters I love and, while I certainly torture Vicky to no end, I can't bring myself to kill him (Only in an epilogue-type-thing, mind you. He can't die in the storyline.) He's my little wimpy gardening Russian vampire, what can I say?
----------"What are you doing here? I thought I killed you yesterday!" grumbled Albi quite racistly.
"No, Albi. You didn't kill me with your dragon flames. I crawled to safety, but you did leave me very badly disfigured," laughed the boy.

Thantalos.
Since it's a grim reaper romance, think what Death as a human is supposed to look like. Think palest of the pale skin, handsome as hell, eyes like midnight, blackest of hair.
Now, think, oh, two and a half feet shorter, and that's Thantalos.
He's the normal dark, snarky character...without being snarky, because the director of the Department of Human Decease is literally emotionless. He can't comprehend human emotions and has a hard time understanding his reapers. He doesn't understand why him being short is funny.
Oh, and he can do horrible, horrible things to you if he needs to. So far, he has never needed to. Thank god for the world.

I really don't have to worry about killing my favourite characters because they're both ghosts.
Jacob Marley is my favourite character because he's witty, he gets annoyed easily (and getting him annoyed = more word count, I've noticed), and he knows his stuff when it comes to haunting. (It's not really because I'm playing Marley in a production, honest. Okay, yeah, that's mostly why.)
My next favourite would have to be Scrooge, because you can't have witty dialogues if you only have one person, and he's just smart enough that he can trick Marley into doing something he doesn't want to do (Marley knows when this happens, but he's appreciative enough of Scrooge's technique that he doesn't get too annoyed). Scrooge is also more up to date on technology, and at least knows which way revolving doors are supposed to turn.

Carlo Palermo has distinguished himself from my cast of dozens and negotiated his way into MC status, at least for now. He's an Italian botanist on the science team sent to explore the planet where evidence of former alien life was discovered. Due to the official leader's lack of leadership ability Carlo has taken up the role of unofficial moderator over the staff. With all the quirks, strong opinions and social eccentricities of lifelong academics, he's got his work cut out for him.

Hmm, I didn't really explain my favourite character (I was mostly in denial that he was dead when I posted, so please forgive me.)
Anyway, he's my take off of the Robin Hood of legends. When I say off, think waaay off. He started pretty close, but then he begin rebelling and suddenly hey-presto! became a completely different character that I didn't develop...just felt around what had instantaneously developed on it's own. Freaky incident (wish it would happen more often). So yeah. He had a rather rough childhood, especially from ages 8-14 (which was incredibly horrible. ooh, I hate my villain), which makes him seem much older than he is...(most first-time readers guess mid-twenties, and are quite often shocked by the fact that he's seventeen. Funny, always seemed obvious to me...) he IS in trouble with the law...er, really the Sheriff...mostly because of his religious views than anything else. And him being the only person the villain was not able to "break."
Anywho. He's thoughtful, quiet, determined, opinionated, sarcastic (ah, the best attribute to any character!), smart, and on occasion quite goofily silly. (Strangely enough, this phenomenon started happening when "the girl" showed up.) All through Forest of Lies he is trying much to hard to bring Marian to the light about God...and she is repelling both it and him.
Fast facts:
-he's short. 5'4" (only an inch taller than me). He didn't mind this fact until I resolved to tell everyone about it.
-----------yes, he's blond with blue eyes. Typical Robin Hood-looking (except for the short part). His eyes are kinda scary at times.
-he has many mysterious parts of his past, which I drop hints at throughout the book (glorious fun).
-he absolutely refuses to pick up a sword, much to Much's (ha) dismay.
-he dislikes the second part of his name (the Hood part).
-he constantly tells me to go to bed when I stay up at times like this.
-no he doesn't get "the girl".
-yes he does.
-you really think I'd tell you?

I have many, many characters to choose from, but I think I'd definitely have to say my main character, Hajiwa. Though he gets angst and issues later on, where I'm at in the beginning, he's just a fun-loving prankster who loves to joke around and make sure everyone's having a great time. He's quite good-looking, in a boyish sort of way, but hardly anybody takes him seriously because he's always joking around.
I think what I like the best about Hajiwa is that he's so different from just about any other main character I've ever done before. Usually my main characters are, well, more like me - quiet, shy, like to keep to themselves (though I don't let them, bwahaha). It's nice to branch out once in a while.

Branching out--yes. Marian was like that last year. Most of my main characters before that were quite like me. (And therefore, quite boring.) She was really out there. (Believe it or not SHE is actually the main character of FoL!)
Yes...she did things I would never do, sometimes with good results, usually with bad. But anyways.

Misty Trail. She's my character who can see the fourth wall. It's been a source of endless amusement so far when she can pick up on things, such as if a spoken word is capitalized, or when she points out the foreshadowing. I haven't so much silenced my inner editor this year, as I've just let it speak through Misty and lampshade the text. She is yet to lampshade her own role though.
And incidentally, the British spelling does look better. All British spellings look better.
----------"Ooh! Foreshadowing!" "Shhh. It's rude to point out the foreshadowing."
