Ah, you beat me to it! Had an opportunity to slap the keys again this evening, so punched through 10k a day earlier than expected.

The fateful word was the second "them" in this sentence -

"The friar denounced them as pale imitations of the Spires, and so we discounted them."

Well I didn't think I was going to get there tonight, but I was spurred into a word war, and well, here I am. Rock.

I didn't think I'd hit 10,000 today, but I did!

Word: bellowed

Sentence/Paragraph: “Okay,” Tuffer bellowed. “We’ll be there at 7:30!”

Whoot!

Word # 10,000: "fared"

As in:
"I’m not sure how any of us would have fared against a pair of Frost Giants showing up out of nowhere.”

Hilarious! My 5,000th word was "female" and now my 10,000th word is "male." I had to count back twice because I could hardly believe it. Equality of the sexes indeed!

I'm currently at 13,632, and I have no idea what the exact 10000 word was...or is.

I should hit 15K later tonight.

woohoo! the word was "too" and was in the following sentence:

"The bedrooms were pretty nice, too, except for the bedding."

i kind of set myself up to have a happy writting day today-- i stopped yesterday at 9907 words (after writing exactly 2000 words), just so i could open a 10,000 word-goal present from a friend. she made me the cutest little Dotee doll, and the fabric she used has words all over it... she challenged me to use all those words in my story by the time i reach 25,000 words (when i get to open my next pressie!).

so, now i'm off to write some more, after picking up my car... had to get winter tires today ($480, gack!) because i got stuck on a hill in last nights horrible rain and wind, and burned some rubber-- literally-- trying to go around some idiot that thought it was a good idea to stop in the middle of the road. if that much rain slowed me on a hill, well.......

I wasn't even sure I was going to write today, but I'm sure glad I did!

My 10,000th word was a boring "the" in the following sentence: The room we entered was tiled on three walls and a showerhead sprouted from the ceiling.

Whee, I broke 10,000!

Sadly, my 10,000th word is "a." How boring is that?! I will strive to do better for the 15,000th. ;)

Here's the sentence it came from:

"She had 5 cents left in her pocket from sending the telegram earlier, and chose two mints and a chocolate."

Om nom, chocolate!

Sigh. A terrible writing night for me, but at least I hit 10,000 words.
The word in particular: "suspected" as in...
"Fashion, Jonah suspected, had little to do with real aesthetics, and never anything with practicality; the shirts, he mused, wouldn't be wearable for any errand other than prostitution, attractive as they were."

My handwavy estimate (as I'm doing handwriting and typewriter this year) shoved me over 10,000 this morning. I've got no idea what the actual word was, because there's no way I'm counting every word on the five pages I handwrote today.

Hit 10,000 words while introducing a new and potential love interest for my character. 10,000th word: Prototype.

Just hit 10k after pulling an all-nighter last night and STILL haven't gone to bed. The quality of this novel may vary per mileage.

10,000th word: then

“The best we can do is pick one and, if it doesn’t lead to the group, then we turn around and go back.”

Can't you just feel the plot forming? haha.
