I passed Andy (at 5508)!

Doing a little dance here.

Broke my hands can't type worth a damn but I passed Andy.

Sorry laptop keyboard too small can't type.

This is what roughly an hour and 2,000 words looks like. dashing between laptop to update word count and check Andy didn't post more words, dangit. and then running back to beat some more words loose from my narrator's skull--he's screaming and writing and screaming and beating his head and the curse is pushing him harder and harder and harder. whatsthenextscene? Write faster!!!!

and somehow the fates were with me and Andy didn't update and Nalick managed to push the words out of his skull and into the sand / wood / clay pots / barrels / and walls of Gulg. and I'm in front again. combined with kateness my totals probably like 150,000 words. totally rocking it!

aaaaaaa!

may edit later.

Moby Dick time.

goal: 6,667 today!

Where's the 10,000 word point? what are we gonna call it? the interstate? feels like an expressway, doesn't it?

feels like it to me.

day job day job day job. where's that easy button?

sleep? what's that?

And I also nabbed the daily post with a mere six minutes left on the battery and then I figured out what the problem was and then managed to fix it so the laptop is now gaining power. And I can post the rest of the story.

Edited for typos.
Edited for typos again.
Edited for typos again.
Edited for typos again.
Edited for typos again.

I think it's all corrected now.

Andy: What? How about a word of praise instead of "I let you win"? I paid you the ego-rub money last week. Get going at it.

Repeat after me: I am a prodigiously gifted novelist.
I am a prodigiously gifted novelist.
I am a prodigiously gifted novelist.I am a prodigiously gifted novelist.I am a prodigiously gifted novelist.I am a prodigiously gifted novelist.

I've been procrastinating tonight by coming up with a NaNoWriMo item for my Etsy shop, and creating a few of them for inventory.
At the risk of being heckled for self-promoting, it's here: http://www.facebook.com/bodicegoddess in my latest status update.

But seriously, I'm just really excited about it. It's a fun way to combine my two passions - making stuff and writing stuff. And also keeping me caffeinated so I can do so.

I'll probably be on here later today while I'm writing at work!

Oh, you GUYS! You're all wearing me out! Brian, have you had too much coffee? You're all jumped up, dude!

Ok, and enough of this whining, "I'm so far behind" from those of you in the 5,000 and 6,000 range. I am now officially one day behind, but I am not fearful. I will catch up.

Today was election day -- I mean, yesterday, because it's Wednesday and I AM STILL AT WORK, although I am just about to leave. And when you work at a newspaper, an election day means a LOT o'work. (Who wrote that big headline on B1? Why, I did!) Even if it's not a very exciting election (like this one).

Now I'm heading home. HOPE to get to the Bean Factory around 11:30-noon (it's one block west of Snelling on Randolph in St. Paul). OUTSTANDING coffee, great old-hippie atmosphere, lots and lots of sockets and they roast the coffee right there.

Yeah, I'm writing in spurts, but I'm behind. I was at 894 yesterday, up to 1722 right now. Seems that if I can get going I can produce, but it's a challenge.

Excerpt:

Sloppily, he drooped his drawing upon the page, oblivious to any collegiate ruling that might deny or regulate him. Jim Cromwell painfully lacked perspective.

Finally got some serious writing done and have a feeling about where the characters are going.

I'm up to 4120, which is more than I had (I was just hitting 3k when we left Nina's). I'm still behind by.....a bunch, but I'm catching up faster than I thought I would. BUT I did literally double my word count today. Man....if I could do that again tomorrow....I would be SO golden.

I WANT to go to the Bean Factory write in, but it all depends on childcare. Otherwise....Thursday's write in at the Blue Moon it is.

I am TIRED. This does not bode well.

And it's after 2am. :P

Hey all!

So I'm counting it as Tuesday plus a few hours, and I'm on schedule for word count. First time ever :) Feelin good...

I want to go to the Bean Factory write-in tomorrow as well, but I have work in the afternoon so I'm not sure I could be there long enough. Phew.

Happy writing to everyone for the rest of today!

I am so behind. Life has gotten in the way, unfortunately, with a sick cat. I have been so drained, both emotionally and physically, that I have not had the mental energy to write even a few sentences. Maybe I'll end up catching up on the 24 hr write in, if kitty is stable then and I am able to go.

No write-ins for me today. I've got work. After work, I'm on a pub quiz team, and we play tonight. That will eat up the majority of my evening. In between work and quiz, I plan to write my little heart out. I brought my laptop with me (since I still haven't found my flash drive). I'm only 1,000 words behind so far... hopefully I can make that up today. I'm going to try. Hopefully the characters win the lottery in today's writing, because they're sure boring now. Surely millions of dollars will make them interesting!

I'd like to thank Eurydice for talking me out of my funk yesterday. I don't know what I was thinking.

Hehe... I'll be writing a little at the dads/' playgroup I attend every Wednesday, but I don't anticipate getting much done since I'll probably be explaining myself too much.

Eden Prairie write-in tonight, though. Nose to the grindstone, get a surge of words going...

Yay, you're out of the funk! Keep writing! Boring people should be much more interesting when they have millions of dollars to run through in a matter of weeks. :)

I would like to point out that I'm ahead of both Brian and Andy. As this is a rare occurance and I don't expect it to last much longer, I'm going to get as much gloating and celebrating as possible in now. So :p.

Goal for tonight is to continue to be a full day ahead and log into World of Warcraft with a reasonable amount of time to hang out at the faire and buy stuff really cheap. And have some corndogs. And get a few people the cool frog. Maybe turn in a few items for rep too. And get my forturne told. And then buy more stuff really cheap. I sadly did not have enough time to do all of this last night at 10:30. So going for it by 8 or so tonight. :)

If I wasn't saving my $20 for the marathon writing session, I'd join you as I'm bored stiff and wanting to sleep. Going to check what write-ins are happening today out of curiosity anyways.

Made 7,000, and probably a little more, but we are rounding down out of convenience.

I will be doing my best to make it to Ginkgo Coffeeshop on Snelling & Minnehaha tonight. Shouldn't be difficult, as I only live a mile away--walking distance! I need to get out of my apartment to get some serious writing in. I've been outlining and plotting, mostly. I'm not too worried about my word count, but I am worried that I might lose interest in writing by picking up one of my previously discarded hobbies as a distraction. (i collect hobbies)

I just did laundry for the first time in many months yesterday due to all the dirt and water accrued on my pants from riding bike home through the rain. That little chore forced me to miss my friend's band practice AND the Nina's write-in. Plus, my cat was being really emotional last night. Would not stay off my lap whenever I sat down.

I somehow made it to the 5k mark! Everyone at last nights writein Galleria heard me complaining, but oh well! I did it! I hope that I've gotten out of that funk, since I did solve a difficult plot point. I'll hopefully be seeing some of you tonight in EP. Write, write, write!

I had the busiest day ever (left my house at 11 and got back just before midnight after many hours of class and dealing with small children), but I found time to write after said children went to bed! I was soooo close to 15k, but alas, it was time to go get on trains and go home, and I updated my count when I finally had internet with 3 minutes to go in the day, so I decided to call it a day though. But Im in good shape, so Im satisfied with that.

Managed to write a bunch before I got sick yesterday, and then again in the middle of the night. Yay.

Back to bed I'm afraid.

Things are swell here at the Bean Factory! At this moment there are five of us writing away, and the vibe is good. Lots of outlets, too!

Sounds like Baker's Square on Ford Parkway in Highland (st. paul) might be the place tonight, at least until 10 or 11 ... Free pie on Wednesdays, at least that's the word from Gwenn. Yum! Wish I could join you.

I've recovered from election night; the day AFTER the election is usually more chaotic, believe it or not. I have that to look forward to. But for now, I'm joining my characters for some thoughts on their world.

And I'm still behind.

Happy writing, kids!

Well, I'm not hurting for words, but I think it's going slow. I've had some action happen, but you know how kids are, always looking for the next thing to happen. I still don't know how I'm going to get 50k words out of this.

Oh wow, I never thought I'd see this so early in my novel. My MC is already to kick butt. It currently stands at 12 to 1 (with a pair of hostage possibilities). But what are the bad guys doing? NOTHING! Seriously, they out number her 12 to 1 and they are just sitting there hiding behind the trees looking at her. They aren't even trying to set a trap. They are just watching her. Obviously MC is going to have to get just a bit more pro-active here.

Writing wise, I've managed to sneak a few words in here and there. It's going to be a struggle to get to 6667 tonight. I just may have to lock myself in the closet when I get home tonight. Currently I'm sitting in the student lounge at Hennepin Tech waiting for my husband to get out of class. It's a nice enough place to write, except for all the people who keep walking through. But i can deal with that.

Now back to my regularly scheduled battle.

So nice to know I'm surrounded by friends. Matt continues to shun Melissa and me, even though it's the other way around ("Hey, guys? Are you still shunning me? Aw, come on! I BROUGHT TWISTER! Guys?"), Brian hates me because he keeps changing the rules on our friendly word duels, but mostly because I have functioning left shift keys on both my Mac mini keyboard and my Alphasmart. Yup. Nothing like a little "friendly" competition between "friends".

I introduced the painter who talks to ghosts, and I get to see how the group dynamics develop now that there are three people. I think I might give them a confrontation with the bad guys tomorrow *rubs hands*.
