I suppose the subject of this thread could refer to a bizarre setting of your story (and by all means, share that with us too) but I'm more curious about odd locales for pulling out your laptop or pen and paper to get a few words plugged out.
For me, I've been typing away while seated on the stairwell of a Metra car, a crowded CTA bus, and on the floor at Union Station in Chicago (there's a reason I keep a sample size of Purell in my backpack).
Just me or does anyone else have strange places where they've found themselves writing?

Leaning over the bridge at Warrenville Grove. (No, I wasn't going to jump--just needed a surface to record a great line from a char that wouldn't wait until I was back home.)

I just wrote on the Train to and from Chicago. But I guess that's not too weird or anything, just on the unusual side for me ;)
----------I also wrote about a line in a semi-famous violinist's apartment while waiting to see her.

Curled up against the stairwell at work, laptop caught against my forearm as I awkwardly typed one handed because the supporting character I doomed to die insisted, no, she is going to live and have a dark secret. I was in plain sight of a security camera - I wonder what the people watching must've thought!

I'm with ThePiratess. I now have to find weird places to write. My oddest place right now is in a car going down to Normal. It's also my normalist place I wrote :)

Wrote the first two hundred words on my iPhone in the backseat of the car because we weren't back to my friend's apartment yet. :) So far that's the strangest, I've done more of my writing on the laptop than the phone, but next Sat I'm going out for my birthday so if my characters start talking I'll likely be typing in the middle of a Japanese steak house!

I carried my computer around with me last night as my friends and I wandered around campus. We went from our lounge, to the ice cream shop, then outside on the quad...I ended up getting some writing down even with all the locale-switching, but that's about as weird as it has gotten for me so far.

So far, the craziest place I've written has been on the top of a tree. Not that weird, but I wrote over a thousand words, so that makes it slightly crazier.
The worst part was that every time I wanted to adjust myself, I needed to close my laptop, take off my backpack, put the laptop in the backpack, put the backpack back on, move, take the backpack off, take the laptop out of the backpack, put the backpack back on, open the laptop, and resume writing. Because of the work involved, I only ended up moving once. Which meant that by the end my leg was almost asleep.
Getting down also proved to be its own problem. Because the way I normally get down is to just jump. With my laptop on my back, I didn't really want to do that. So I had to securely attach my backpack to a branch, jump down, and remove the backpack from the branch. Also, I didn't get a wireless signal, which could be a good or bad thing.
Even so, it probably won't make it into my 'favorite place to write' list. But it did give me a very 'have laptop will travel' vibe, so that was fun.

Strangest place was while pushing a stroller down the street, en route to the park! Hooray for iPod Touch word processing apps!

Sunday Lunch with the parents. Had note pad with me. oddly, because I have not typed those word into a computer, they are not part of my word count yet. Hmmm I just got something to break through a writer's block later.

I took a student of mine, a journal, and a purple pen to the DMV! Lots of good people-watching, and my student was very helpful with pointing out the weirdest ones in the room. Only managed to get about 150 words written while she took her permit test, but it was an interesting experience trying to create in a space that is full of distractions (as well as one designed to stifle any deviations from the rules and procedures). Jesse White's portrait as staring at me the whole time, so that might be a name that pops up later.

New place for me. In the Church sancturary just before choir practice.
