Hi everyone,
After the surprising number of responses to my "Any Teen or YA Writers Out There?" post and the number of teens who said that it would be great to have a write-in just for teens,
I thought that it would be a great idea to schedule an online write-in sometime soon just for younger NaNos.

Of course we attend the all-ages write-ins, but a few teens are still slightly uncomfortable around the older crowd and I think that a teens-only write-in on the NaNoChat would be a great way to ease anyone new or uncomfortable into the NaNo experience while surrounded by writers within their age group who they are comfortable and familiar with and can more easily relate to than some of our older writers.

With all that out of the way, I still think that it would be best if an ML would be present to regulate things and keep us from chattering away rather than writing. Though to some it may seem that having an "adult" participating defeats the purpose, it may be best if there is someone there to keep us writing and tell us what should be going on, because that obviously is quite a workload for a teenager who has little to no experience with something like this.

So, is anyone interested?

In the other post Thursday or Saturday night for either an hour or two hours was discussed, maybe from 7-9 or 8-9, as the online write-ins so far have been scheduled. One of the MLs has confirmed that both of these dates are free and good to go. If any of you have a date or amount of time that you think would work out better, please go ahead and post it here.

I personally think that two hours would be a perfect amount of time so that anyone who shows up late will still have time to write and also so more things will get done in the case that we do get off-topic and chat.

Other issues would be the set ages. I say anywhere from 13-21 is fine, though I'm sure some would want ages 13-19.

So, if you all are interested please reply and help me out here so that we can get this thing set up and get this ball rolling. Once all plans are made we can message an ML and have it scheduled as an event.

Thank you all!

I'm new to this all so could you explain what exactly an online write-in would be? lol sorry for sounding like a total noob.

and I think the ages should go to 21. I'm only 19, but I believe 21 is still so young and I know I'll probably still be writing with a focus of YA when I'm that old so why exclude someone only 2 years older than I am now?

Thank you so much though if you can explain this for me haha :)

From what I gather, an online write-in would be centered in a chat room, where people could talk and schedule word wars, much like how a regular write-in would be in person. You just don't see anybody, and are sitting at your desk at home rather than out somewhere. XD

I agree with the ages thing, let it go to 21~

If I can get the chat to work I'm all for it. But I'm retarded when it comes to chat rooms (can never get them to work D:), so I have no guarantee. XD

Saturday would be best for me~

Don't worry, it takes quite a bit of browsing to find the link.
The chat is right here: http://chatnano.net/tempchats/detroit.html
