Hi all, was just wondering if anyone else out there has some rewards planned for milestones reached. Like, every 10,000 words you get a new pack of paper or a doughnut or something fun :).
I blogged about this today at The Sweetie Chronicles, because I officially hit my first goal of 12,500 words. I just thought I'd share since the reward system is something that works for me, and even though I don't want to spend much money on it, I wanted to find some items that would help motivate me to keep writing! I know that I need to get ahead, because I'm the type of person who always starts strong and then runs into some snags later down the line. I want to be ready for that wall when I hit it so it doesn't hold me back.
Does anyone else have some rewards planned? Or maybe a big, fun reward for when you finish the novel? I'm curious to know how everyone is doing out there. Are you feeling overwhelmed? Having fun? I am definitely worried that nothing I've written so far is any good, but that's okay, right? At least it isn't a blank page anymore. If anyone wants to vent, brag, be happy or just plain talk something out, feel free to send me a mail or reply to this forum. I'm always wanting to make new friends in the area, especially writers who have similar goals and fears. We're all in this together, which is what I love most about NaNo WriMO!

That's a really good idea. Though, for me, a weekly trip to Starbucks sans kids is a pretty big treat. And since in theory I get at least a LITTLE writing done at each write-in, that's probably as good a system as any for me. Still, I really like this idea. Thank you for sharing it.

If I am writing during the day, I "reward" myself by going for a run. It might not seem like much of a reward but it gets me away from my desk and out into the sunlight. It helps me to focus. If I'm writing at night, I'll make myself write my way into a solid scene and then get a hot cup of tea or a glass of wine. And, of course, one glass of wine has the tendency to turn into two. And then three. And then I'm not really writing, I'm just getting drunk in front of my computer. So I save the wine for when I feel ahead of schedule.
Of course, now I want a donut. :)
