So, what's the best time for writing for you? The night? Bright and early in the morning before work? Whenever your boss or teacher isn't looking and you're able to open the word processor? Coming home on the bus, with about twenty people reading over your shoulder?
I personally have a problem with getting writing time in during the day, because I didn't tell Mom I'd be writing (she wouldn't be too happy with me slacking off on schoolwork to write some novel just for the fun of it) and my keyboard isn't in the best of states... What do you do to get some peace and quiet when you try to put all of your creative ideas on paper (or in this case on your computer screen)?

Hehe, for me it is the exact opposite. I won't remember any word written after 10 pm, and such words also don't make sense. I write best in the mornings (yes, I am this annoying kind of a morning person).
----------The only exception is when insomnia kicks in - then I can stay all night and when I am bored enough with watching/reading, I write.

Definitely late, late, late at night. Every day I promise myself to go to bed at some reasonable time, but that's just when I'm getting all excited about ideas I've just come up with. So I write on and on, and end up losing contact with reality about 3 a.m. Not the best strategy you can have, though :)

Well, I told my family, and they are surprisingly in awe.
I also tell them how people worldwide are doing this, and how many (100.000 +), how some people write little, some a lot, a woman (Lazette whose free e-book I read) even wrote three books and one got published. (Maybe this quietens them?)
Maybe you can tell your family too, and say how eg your English teacher says writing is good for you or something?
(Maybe you can tell your English teacher first and ask opinion of this? Most likely they will be enthusiastic and encourage you, and then you can report this to your Mum? ;) hm?)
I'm not a morning person though I'd like to be.. maybe.. If I didn't have to get up that early then :)
Late afternoon or evening for me, mostly.. Late afternoon would be better ideally, and to go to sleep more early, so I wouldn't be so cranky in the morning.. :)

Xiri, best way for your family to leave you alone and believe you can write (even if you don't believe yourself) is to publish some stuff in your local newspaper or school/college newspapers etc (some pay quite well too! Or just do it for the 'See, I'm a writer?' effect! Even if they don't pay well, everyone will start to look at you with new respect!! ;))
Of course studying is important too.. Maybe you can do both?

I wish I could publish. I did try on a ahem local website, but it was about how awful my style was and I quit. Now I'm back to trying to develop it.
And seriously, who would publish attempts at slash fan-fic, yes? Especially as I tend to prefer to not write in my language, but English instead. Which comes with certain ESL problems.
Well, seeing that I have a am very behind at my assignments, I guess I could say an excuse it is my ahem psychological state that is the matter, but I just can't force myself to program or go to class :( And something alike to flu that hit me yesterday is lovely too.
