if i'm not mistaken i must've noticed another NaNo amongst us writing in our own native tongue!
i've been doing it since last year, but wow, i think there must be another one here who's into it, right now... who knows, they must've been doing it for years!
we need more of this! anyone else here who writes NaNo in Tagalog or in any other local dialect...

Darn.
Actually, I'm torn. I have the one novel that I'm doing, and I've already gotten as much as 6k words into it, but there's this one plot that's just nagging at the back of my head, and it's a story that's supposed to be written in Filipino.
I must suppress it! And wait for next year. Because 6k words is a milestone. And I haven't written anything for two days. Hahaha.

Yay to writers in Filipino! :) I would write in Kapampangan but no one would read it, so... XD Besides my Kapampangan is far from literary. That goes for my Filipino too. D:

I think it would be more of a challenge to write in the native language than English, at least for me anyway. I have no trouble speaking Tagalog, but writing and reading it is another matter. I've been a butt of many good-natured jokes from my friends everytime I try to read Tagalog out loud haha. But still, I try to write.

I *want* to write in Filipino, but my own command of the written language really isn't great.
It's really the only problem I have with the language. My characters think and speak in Filipino. The story SHOULD be written in Filipino---literary/sociopolitical story!
I sometimes hate the fact that my first language is English. It makes me feel so disconnected from the world I write about.

Don't worry, some would kill to have English as their first language to connect more to the world they are writing about ;) That said, you're pretty much blessed, not to mention an envy of some writers, I think. I'm sure you're doing the most with what you have right now. If you're really passionate about writing in Filipino, you could always learn/teach yourself how ;) Never let go of that dream! :D

Aw.:( Don't worry about that though, the good thing is you actually want to learn the language, unlike some people who would practically deny being Filipinos even if they looked it from head to toe.:P
For me, I don't think I can write a 50K story in pure Filipino. I wrote some short stories and poems in the language before, but I don't think I can go all the way. Darn school and work for making me think in straight English now.:P
