Day 7: by the end of today, you should be at 11,669 words to be on track to reach 50k by the end of the month.

Today's dare/challenge: as a salute to Running Man with Pencil (our former NaNoWriMo logo) use the words "running man" in your writing today.

Today's prompt: "The train has left the station" (literal or proverbial train)

Today's what if...scenario: "What if... one of your characters uses famous quotes to the chagrin of others to get his feelings across." Why? What quotes are used? Misquotes possibly? What happens?

Use your imagination and share your use of today's dares/prompt/creative scenario here for bonus points. Check back for tomorrows suggestions.

And may the Muse be with you!!!

Today's Calendar:

Grr. Smacktalk from denver.

"Considered how soundly we conquered Atlanta (and Stay Conquered they will - in a friendly way); I think we can easily take 12th place over the weekend, possibly even inch up towards 11th place..."

I think I'm going to try and work both of these into a song today, since I failed so epically both song and word count-wise yesterday.

Yup, I will be at the Java Monkey today! I just have to finish breakfast and get ready first. Taking a shower would also be nice.

And what's this with Denver getting even further ahead? This needs to be fixed. STAT.

Of course, you'll be there, and I'll be home. Sadness.

We need to start kicking some Denver butt.

Here's my response to both the prompt and the dare for today. (And also a little bit of the "what if..." as there are some cliches in here).

I haven't filmed this yet, as I am surrounded by dog-type distractions, but I will have a video of it in a few hours. This is one of the longest songs I've written. It ended up being 360 words, which isn't too bad.

Quote:
You’re always in a hurry
But you don’t know where to go
No matter how fast you move
You always are too slow
You think you are the tortoise
But you really are the hare
And in the end, you’re not the one
Who ends up getting there

You’re a running man
But you’re out of time
The train has left the station
Not a taxi cab in sight
Your car is in the shop
And you don’t stand a chance
Of getting to work on time

You want to be the first one
But you always end up last
You think you are on time
But by now the deadline’s passed
It’s getting late so move it
‘Cause you’ve got to get there soon
And if it started at ten thirty
You will be there by noon

You’re a running man
But you’re out of time
The train has left the station
Not a taxi cab in sight
Your car is in the shop
And you don’t stand a chance
Of getting to work on time

You, sir, are so lazy
There is no hope for you
When you set alarm clocks
You just end up hitting snooze
You stop and smell the roses
But you step off of the path
And once you’ve left the beaten road
There’s no way you’ll get back

You’re a running man
But you’re out of time
The train has left the station
Not a taxi cab in sight
Your car is in the shop
And you don’t stand a chance
Of getting to work on time

You’d be employee of the month
If only you were there
But as it is your boss thinks
You really just don’t care
You’re on your last chance
So you better get it right
Maybe you should get some sleep
And not stay up all night

You’re a running man
But you’re out of time
The train has left the station
Not a taxi cab in sight
Your car is in the shop
And you don’t stand a chance
Of getting to work on time
You don’t stand a chance
Of getting to work on time

Okay, here's the video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JxUT9MTcQE0
It's still processing, but it should be available in the next couple of minutes.

I like your song!

/me eats a few of Denver's members. See how well you write inside my stomach! There's no keyboards there!

Goal: 200k 260k. My wordcount was going to be an average, but we need to beat the pants off Denver, right?

Well, I WAS going to stop at 28k tonight. But Denver's got me convinced that I might need to go ahead and make that a solid 30k to help out here in NaNoLanta. :D
