It's only Oxford who are beating us. I am using my day off tomorrow and planning and getting at least 3000 words to help raise our total. :D

You're really good at encouraging!
I had a brilliant day. Despite working I managed to get 3000 words out putting me back into a day ahead after a too-busy-to-write Saturday. And since I got that on a work day I may up my goal for tomorrow. Maybe 5k? 5k in a day would be amazing, and put me up to 20k, and three days ahead. Can I do it? I'll do it for the Midlands! Come on rest of the world, where are ya?

YAY!!!! well done
I know you can do 5k in a day. set yourself hourly goals, i try and do 800 or 900 words in an hour, that works for me, so make sure its something you want!!! like 600 an hour. Make sure to have a little break to rest your wrists and the poor keyboard, they need a rest too!
lols
You can do it!!!!!

I'll sleep in December! If you need sleep though Oxford, go ahead!
My goal of 5k today is going well. It's only 2pm and I've got over 3000 words, beating my total from yesterday and I have ten hours of the day left!
ETA: Learning I can write about 1000 words in half an hour was a genius thing! I can now do half an hour write or die bursts for a good chunk of words. I'm in fact over 4000 words now. My goal of 5000 today seems silly. And I have another day off on Wednesday...
ETA... Again: So I can churn out words when I want. I've already beat my 5k goal, and up to 5800 words! This is feeling brillant as I've now hit 20k and I still have so much of today left!

Sue and Lily - just note to you that I will probably not be updating my wordcount in the next few days; I'm not well at all and will most likely be spending the next few days in bed rather than typing. :(

Hi all,
Cieria, is the word war done on total or average?
If it is average I may have to drop out or I will bring it down. If not then I will happily add to the total.
Zorana, Really sorry you are not well and I hope you feel loads better real soon.
Just a small worry, I thought one of the conditions was to update at least every 2 days so could you ask one of the ML's to update for you somehow even if the total stays the same. We NEED your word count it is fab....
Otherwise lots of R & R and alcohol never hurts....

From the info thread:
There will be two prizes:
The city/region with the highest average word count.
The city/region with the highest proportion of winners from the starting participants.
The MLs will compare results, and when all regions agree, the results will be posted on the NaNo boards.
But I want all Midlanders, if you are reading this, STOP READING THIS! Go and write some more words. Right now. And make sure your word counts are updated too!
We're second, which just isn't good enough. Come on Birmingham! WRITE WRITE WRITE!
Ps. Do hope you're feeling better Zorana!

Well I had to go to uni today for a Film careers fair. I didn't HAVE to go but I was gutted at the fact I was gonna miss it so dragged myself out of bed for it and proceeded to infect everybody. Mwahahaha. I'm now back in bed. Wallowing in my misery and transferring said misery to my NaNo. Though that lasted for all of 52 words before I turned on Stardust.

52 words is better than nothing! Especially if you're ill. Enjoy Stardust!
In the mean time I have spent today typing my way to 15,500 words... and counting... 50k is in sight!
