Ok, picking up from NutmegAngel's 25k shout out post I was wondering how much time people have covered in their novels so far?

In mine we met MC on friday night and it is now monday evening. I have started so many stories over the years and never finished them so this is already the longest thing I have ever written. Therefore although I love writing and have done it for as long as I can remember the one thing I have no experience with is pacing.

Just curious I guess

Good luck everyone xxxxx

I'm 17k in, and so far I've covered about three days in four and a bit chapters. That said, some exposition has covered, loosely, events of the past 50 or so years.

My first 15K was the events of one day, morning (as in, the main character getting up at the start of the novel) to the end of the working day. My last 9K or so is possibly a timeskip about a week or so later to give a gap between the weird things happening to her, but again, it's all one day, and it's probably still going to go on for a few more K, then it will most likely be the day after.

I've covered a week and a day so far, it should all span out to about ten days. Hopefully :-)

If you take note of the NB I stuck in to tell myself that I'd covered three days rather than just two, then I have covered three days so far, and am almost at the point where the plot I had planned starts. But I'm going to cut out several fight scenes at the end, because so far I think my poor characters have been attacked about six times, by things ranging from booby traps to robots to Ferals (radiation mutated humans who tend to be rather vicious). Oh, and people too. Yeh, they got attacked by people. But technically, I have covered about eighty odd years, because my MC talks about the destruction of the First Colony which his grandma was present at... I don't think I've ever covered more than maybe two weeks in a story before. No, wait, one of them must have covered longer, because there was a bit of a gap time wise in the middle... Yeh, basically a lot happens when I write stories :D.

I have finally hit the bit of plot I actually had planned. My MC has just dug a big hole, without having a clue how to go about archaeology, and has had a dose of beginners luck. So he's found a scarab beetle, a pair of stone tablets, and an arm which appears to be attached to a body... On the Moon :D. But I actually think it might wrap up not that long off. I can see resolutions coming (although one or two characters need to die yet, and various other things have to happen)... So it should work out to cover about a week time wise. I think.
