What's this, you say? Has she lost her mind? We don't want to adopt people, I got enough mouths to feed.

Okay, what this is really about.

The other day at a write-in, I got a note from a person online named 'Ed" who said he'd been following me to keep up his word count. When I replied it began to become friendly banter between two people challenging each other.

I figured, we all need an extra push, right? I'm thinking that us with higher word counts should adopt those with lower word counts. Kinda like a mentoring program. Give them support, encouragement, cajoling, chocolate. Something that would keep that wrimo going.

I'm thinking (since this is the first time I've ever proposed something like this) those of us with lower word counts could possibly say something like "I'm desperate! Adopt me!'. And those of us at normal or higher word count would say, "I adopt (insert username here)".

You don't have to go all out. Just chat with them via NaNoMail about wordcount, let them know what gets you over that hill or gets you over that word. Having Ed there to egg me on has gotten me through many a rough spots in my novel. No kidding. I think it's a great idea.

Oh and Ed, you're going down, you know this, right?

I have already kind of done this LOL. There is a teen writer I know personally and I have been encouraging her to keep up her word count. So far so good.

Since I topped out over 50,000 tonight, I'll step up to the plate an adopt a couple of you, LOL.

HunterWriter and SarahHildreth, consider yourselves adopted!

Someone adopt me? *pleading eyes* I'm way behind where I'd like to be. I'm trying, though.

Okay. Consider yourself adopted. But I have to warn you. I've got a tough love streak so let's get cracking!!!

- What's your strategy?

- What's the next scene you're going to write?

- Are you willing to jump ahead to a later scene that you really, really want to write?

- Have you done any word wars yet?

- Tried writing with your eyes closed? (it kills the internal editor - fix typos in December)

- Going to the Sunday write-in?

Let me know! Feel free to direct message me.

strategy: write 5k a day
next scene: hmm... maybe something in the palace? (would take too much explaining for here).
willing to jump ahead: no cuz i don't know what I want to write yet
word wars: yes. do them with myself and with others. lately i've just been setting hourly goals though. 1k in an hr works 4 me
writing with eyes closed: no. my internal editor doesn't fix much but spelling. typos drive me NUTS
write-in: can't cuz i'll still be in Canton. but i'll be there in spirit!
as long as I can write 5k tomorrow and 5k Monday, and make sure I get my project for Monday done tomorrow, I should be set.
thanks for the adoption! i'm sure the state will be sending money soon...
