MIssoula Write-Ins

Hi Missoula Writers,

Our Missoula write-ins will be every Sunday from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. in the large meeting room at the Missoula Public Library on Main Street. The room has tables and chairs that we can arrange as we want as long as we put everything back the way it was when we leave. Snacks and drinks are allowed. There is also a coffee cart in the lobby; I'm not sure of its hours, but I'll check.

The first write-in will be this Sunday, November 1. Those who attend the Midnight Madness (not me!) are definitely encouraged to wake up and show up for the 2:00 p.m. write-in so they can add even more words to their count. We have to beat those evil folks from Saskatchewan after all... Heh.

Let me know if you have any questions or need directions. Also, if you get a chance, say thanks to the Library staff for their generosity in allowing us to use this space.

Okay, I couldn't help it. I'm so excited for Nano and I'm dying to know who I'll be writing with this year. What Bozeman or Belgrade people are doing Nano besides me? Is anyone an official ML for Bozeman (one of these years, I'll actually get around to filling out the form for MLs...)? If not, I'll be willing to help coordinate Meet & Greets, Write Ins, and what ever else.

Hello, hello!

Saskatoon is throwing down the gauntlet and challenging Montana to a Word War. We have several unique awards that will be given out at the end of November, but I will allow James to do the honours for that, later on in this thread. (That's your cue, James!)

In addition to the regions going up against each other, I am hereby challenging the MLs of Montana, Kay Erickson and Julie., to individual word wars. We can watch the regional progress in our regional headers; we can watch me kick the other MLs' butts in this post. ;)

Let the taunting begin!

Hey all,

Are there any writers in the eastern part of the state? I'm from the small town of Circle, near Glendive. With 200 in Montana, it seemed like there should be a few from over here. This is my first year for doing NaNo, don't have nearly the word count I should but I'm still enjoying it. Writing on a novel is new, I've only done nonfiction work before.

Heyas guys,

I'm the evil infiltrator from half across the world ;)
Actually in Germany, buuuut my novel plays in Montana this year, so I'm hoping for some help from y'all (if you can find the time for it of course).

And writing budies, of course, if any of you want some mad German girl as a writing buddy ;)

So, my plot.
Urban fantasy playing in Missoula most of the time. Why Missoula? Well... I found it on the map and liked it :P
There's lots of woods around, perfect for my werewolves, and it's close to Canada (relatively speaking), so that's an additional plus for my story.

So if any of you want strange questions coming your way from my side of the pond, hop into the thread and poke me. :)
I'm interested in anything ranging from great spots int he woods to good places for a business-tower-that-hides-my-vampires and some out of the way homes in the woods for my main character. Information about how day-to-day life is in Missoula. What's special to your region. All that :)

Im not a smoker so i have no clue how much they are , anywhere. But I know the taxes make them different in each state, and Googling is not proving helpful.

Computers Rock, or what happened when I crashed mine today.

So, I only lost a few lines of diologue today.
My laptop froze as I was typing my last bit before we left the library. I had to hard shut it down. Turns out when I got the new computer I forgot to set Word to auto save every minute, so it was set to the default 10minutes.
Fixed that.
My big bummer is that a bunch of companies were named in those couple lines, and now I can't remember them for nothing. GRRRRR!
Sorry needed to vent.

Missoula Midnight Madness Meeting

So, there seemed to be limited interest but I thought I'd check who wants to meet up to start as the clock strikes twelve.

The idea would be to meet up at Finnigans (or another place if enough people prefer) at 11:00 or 11:30, Oct 31st. I'll call ahead to try to get the wall with the outlets. Then when it turns Midnight, we all start writing. The meeting lasts until 2, or whenever people need/want to leave.

If anybody needs rides to or from the event, I can help out there as well.

Missoula Kick-Off Party

Welcome Writers!

November is coming up quickly, and it's time to start planning our Missoula area kick-off party.

In the past, we have typically held the kick-off party on the Sunday prior to November 1. This year, however, that is a full week before Nano starts! That seems a bit early to me, so I wanted to offer some options to see what people's preferences are:

1. Sunday, October 25, 2:00 p.m. (time could be flexible, maybe a bit earlier)
2. Tuesday, October 27, 6:00 p.m. (time flexible, but would have to be after 5:30 for me to make it)
3. Thursday, October 29, 6:00 p.m. (time flexible, but would have to be after 5:30 for me to make it)
4. Saturday, October 31, 2:00 p.m. (time could be flexible)

I think we'll probably meet at Liquid Planet on Higgins. They have a "conference room" that we can reserve. No fighting for tables on a crowded weekend. I'll check their hours this week, though, because I don't know how late they stay open on weeknights (should we choose the Tu or Th).

So please let me know what works for you--either by replying to this post of PM'ing me through the site.
