Okay, so with five-ish days of writing left, and 33,360 words to go, I really don't see myself winning this thing. But you know what? Not giving up. Stranger things have happened I suppose. And I'm in this zen place about it. I've gotten farther on this plot than I've ever gotten, and I'm still going. Of course, I'm a little stuck at the moment. And even if I don't get the 50,000 at the end of November, I'm going until I do.

But hey, it's been fun, so that's what matters. *grins*

So who's sweating and who isn't? Let's hear it people.

Are you having trouble in these final days of NaNo? Do you like your novel? Do you want to toss it in the fire, or flush it down the toilet? Are you too busy to post here, or are you purposely looking for ways to waste time and procrastinating? Are you fighting with your characters more than usual, or are things running smooth?

Me? I'm not sweating (yet), and I am arguing a bit with my main characters. Also, I love parts of my novel, and know that other parts need to be edited, but I don't hate any bit of it. In fact, I'm quite proud of it.
As you can all well see from the title of my post, you can probably tell what's (randomly) playing on my playlist before I go to bed. Sometimes I hate that song and sometimes I like it, but it always gets me all reved up(and I probably get that from my Father, who used to listen to it while working out) and ready to go for something that's probably impossible.
Well, I'm off to bed for the night. I have to work in the morning, and then I'm coming home to go for 48,000 words, at the very least.
Hope you all had a great thanksgiving! I am off to bed.

Gang,
It looks as though I might need a stand in ML for Nov. 22 (in Mayfield) and Nov. 29 (n Brecksville). I will most likely be in Kentucky for Thanksgiving at the in-laws.

On the 22nd, I just got word that my college roomies may be getting together in the area. I get to see them maybe once a year and would love to hang with them. Its not set in stone yet, but I'm putting it out there.

So, if any one would love to wear the ML hat on those two days, I'm taking volunteers. No real work involved, except distributing and collecting the libraries power strips and running a word sprint or two.

If you think you could help me out, just drop a line here or nano-mail me.

I changed my username because I've got a bunch of friends from Serious About Your Skills ( www.says-skills.com ) doing NaNo and I wanted it to be less confusing. :P I'm 15 years old, in my second year of doing NaNo and this year I'll be writing a fantasy-comedy based on the Cinderella fairy tale. I live in Ohio (obviously) and want to write for a living eventually.

Ahstabula County Write in Note

Okay, I'm having two write ins in Ashtabula county, I know that's quite a stretch for some of you, but I decided to post this anyway.... These are this week:

I will be there from 5:30 - 8 pm on Monday, providing the storm doesn't strand everybody.

Hey, writers. I'm looking for a group to write with on Saturday or Sunday afternoons - the remainder of the Cleveland area write-ins look like they're far west or south. Cleveland Heights has a poet laureate, how can we not have a NaNoWriMo writers group?! Optimum for me would be Phoenix at Cedar-Lee, but down to University Circle or into the eastern 'burbs would be fine.

We met at Arabica Coffee last year (the one on Abbe Rd in Elyria, by LCCC) and that went well. There's also a Panera in Avon Commons, Jim's Coffee House in Elyria... Or somewhere else. Anyone game?

Help! I'm a perfectionist and i suck

Here's what I see as a common theme with my attempts at Nanowrimo.

I'm all excited about the idea.
Love the fun, seat-of-your-pants, positive vibe.
Have a couple of good story ideas.
Have the time.
Have the Alphasmart ready with fresh batteries.
Start on story.
Get all perfectionisty on myself.
Begin to hear little voice say, "this sucks, you suck, arrrghh."
Have a LOT of trouble with the quantity vs quality thing.
Have trouble allowing story to flow on its own.
(hmmm, interesting. light bulb is going off now. will i have to pay myself for this therapy session?)
Keep thinking about story.
Keep finding other things to do.
Abysmal word count keeps kicking me in the shins.
Try to rationalize why I don't keep going.
Fizzle out.

This year:
Of the two stories that I had in mind, the one I chose is about a young woman from Ireland, who leaves home to take a job in the U.S. I thought I would be more inclined to stick with *this* story (vs the other one I had in my head) because it is based on the life of my grandmother. But now i realize that i'm too emotionally invested in my grandmother's story to allow the character and plot free rein. Do you know what i mean? So the whole idea of just writing away and allowing whatever happens to happen is really hard for me when I feel so attached to the character.

Sooo...

I think i should chuck this story and try the other before it's too late. It's not like I have anything to lose right? Hell, i'm at 672 words at the moment. ack!

Anyone with experience with story-chucking and starting over while already 10+ days into the month?
Advice of any kind out there?

Another Request - Suggestions for TGIO Party Location

Are you getting sick of me asking for help yet?

I am in need of suggestions for locations for the TGIO Party. What we need is a large space able of accomodating around 50+ people. It would also need table and chairs for everyone. Kitchen facilities are not required, but a sink would be helpful.
If were centrally located, that would be a bonus, but it is not a requirement.

I will contact the Cuyahoga Library system about space.

But, could you check facilities in your areas?

Check the gym or YMCA you have a membership to.

Or your church/synagoge.

Or social groups (German-American Club, the Eagles, the Kiwanis) that you or even your relatives may be member of to see about free space.

Does your condo or apartment complex have a party room available for tenants?

It would be nice to get these for free of charge, but if the fee is nominal - I'm hoping we all can pitch in to cover it.

If you have any suggestions, please let me know. I appreciate all your help.

If anyone needs a ride to the Saturday Write-In, I will be glad to oblige. I'm driving from Brunswick - but can make MOST places on the westside.

Also, is anyone planning on writing more after the 4pmish room close? I am dreadfully behind on wordcount and need to catch up. I actually have a job now (cashiering at Medina's WalMart - I have sold myself to the devil) so I'm swamped and/or exhausted with training and work.
