S. Oregon Coast?

Anybody from the S. Oregon coast out there?

I'm in North Bend. This is my first year to try NaNo. (GASP!) I can't believe I just signed up. I have a VERY pushy internal editor who is screaming in my ear right now. "NOOOO! How could you DO this to me?"

Would love to hear from others from this area. Will there be any local NaNo events this year?

(BTW- I assume they must have reset the forums? I had looked a while back and saw posts s. coasters' had made in previous years, but when I came back today they were gone.)

How goes the noveling? I'm a little behind on words, but plan to make it up on the six hour drive I'm making today. Should be productive!

My question is, what kind of characters do you have? Are they all human, or some not so human? For me, so far they are mostly human, with a few non-humans mixed in to give trouble to the humans. So here's my list:

An unnamed Succubi and a unnamed man from chapter one.
Man named Luke and his unnamed girlfriend in chapter 2.
An unnamed couple for chapter three.
Samuel and the girl with the gold and black mask for chapter 4.
James, Kyle and Lisa for chapter five.
Ray and his girlfriend in chapter 6.
Lacy and Skye (male) are main in chapter 7 with a slight introductions for Jake and Nick.
Lance meets an unnamed Lady who is a siren in chapter eight.
Stacy and Scott for chapter 9.
Stella and Kelly show up with Jason for chapter ten.
Leo and Erica are in chapter 11.
Megan and Isaiah are in chapter twelve.
Brian and Lila are wolfweres in chapter 13.

Who's up for a write-in or just a chance to get together and discuss our novels? It could be a sort of it's-almost-over party in a way. I could save some tables here at GP (where I'm sitting right now) and maybe bring some muffins or fruit or something to keep us going.

Who's up for it? I'm thinking perhaps around 1pm so that we have some time to wake up and recover from our Black Friday woes :D Anyone?

Astoria because my novel takes place there. (And it would be just wonderful if someone could describe the high school there. Google maps does not have a good street view of it. And it doesn't show the insides, either.)

Way, way south South Coasters - Brookings

Hello Oregon Elsewheres!

Brookings here - about as far south as you can get without being in California.... Glad to hear from the other Elsewheres, and wish there were more of us Way South South Coasters out there. I'm writing a "screwball mystery" and am currently stuck at a soiree. My Argentinian hostess, married to an American movie star and producer, is hosting a cocktail party (basically a blatant attempt to introduce new characters) with an undercover Interpol agent (or more?), several Scandinavians of questionable integrity, and a mysterious Scot in attendance. I'm just at word count, not much padding here, but since I did manage to make it to 50,000 in 2005, I'm hopeful now.

I'm inviting Wrimos in the Tillamook area to a write-in/kickoff on November 1. Since I'm a newbie, I have no idea what goes on at these things.

So far, all I have is a nice fireside room with comfy chairs and wi-fi, a newbie friend, and a coffee pot. Probably not a bad start, but I'd like some fun activities.

North Oregon coast NanoWrimo?

Hello everybody,

My name is Susan Park and I am a new NaNoer in Seaside, OR. I work for Seaside Public Library and we are trying to organize some Nano meetings for this area. There is a pre-November meeting scheduled for 7:00 pm on Wednesday, October 29, at our library in Seaside, 1131 Broadway. Our library has 14 internet computers for public use and 6 for young adult/teen, as well as wireless internet access for your laptops. We just opened a new library and it is both spacious and cozy - plenty of room to come and write!
