Brief Author Bio:

Known in that odd grey realm known as "the Real World" as Kate, Akatari is a first-year university student who wants to be published by the time she's graduated. She's considering majoring in history, and is also interested in linguistics, archaeology, pre-modern literature, and a wide collection of miscellany in which courses at her uni are (sadly) not offered.

She writes mostly strongly-overlapping fantasy and romance, though some of her works are more one than the other. To date, she has two completed novel drafts, one of which she may submit later this year, and several incomplete attempts.

When she grows up, Akatari wants to be able to fly.

Synopsis: The Staying Journey

Iaris was mentioned in the prophecy, but only in passing--she was the "Child-Love", a bad influence to be shunned. And so when the Companions came to her village and took the Chosen One, her sweetheart, she was left behind.

In the absence of the prophesied savior, out of the minds of humans and the Younger Gods, Iaris grows anyway. She is fourteen when he leaves, fifteen when the burden of healing falls upon her and when she takes in three runaways, sixteen when plague strikes the village, eighteen when she realizes she loves someone else.

In the sixth year after his leaving, the Chosen One returns in a blaze of glory to claim the planned bride of his youth. But the girl who loved him is not the woman he finds.
