Excerpt: Eligere

The burning was unimaginable. The creatures writhed in pain and were unable to find refuge from the increasingly scorched earth. The bodies of water surrounding the land did not quell the cries of the animals that sought relief by jumping into them. The centuries-old trees and impressive vegetation were methodologically eaten away by the advancing flames. Several locals who have not left days earlier and have yet to be reached by the demolition, thought it had spread through a great deal of land, helpless attempted to douse their livestock down and soak down their homes in order to save them. Their faces were ashen and in a panicked state. Somehow, they knew it was all futile as they could not prevent the inevitable.

This event had been foreseen a millennia ago.
