Synopsis:
Prequel to an episodic series I'm planning on writing, pertaining to the (unnamed) heroine's situation before the series actually begins.
Born into poverty, she's rather fortunate that a wealthy man chooses her as his linguistic ward, as per family tradition. But growing up in his house isn't all fluff and bunnies -- she has to work hard for her future, including studying abroad in a foreign, dangerous land.
