The Chain of Destiny
an excerpt
Here's a little except from Chapter 31. It's completely unedited at the moment, but bear with me. It's one of my favorite scenes to see in my imgaination.

Chapter 31 - Movie Night
Stu plopped down in the chair next to me. “Well, I’m done with my list. There were only two ‘no’s which surprised the hell out of me.”
“Why does that surprise you?” Flo grumbled.
“We’re free agents; there’s no obligation to help and a lot of them are too self-involved to worry about fighting with us.” He paused. “Speaking of all that, has the council decided if they’re going to help us or not?”
“Sid should be back soon and we’ll know then. If you’re done calling people, take this.” I handed him my list, forcing myself not to smile. The only names left belonged to the most annoying vampires in the city.
“Come on,” he scanned it quickly. “I’ll never get off the phone with these women.”
The corners of my mouth twitched. “You’re a ladies’ man. It should be easy for you.”
“You know it doesn’t work with any of these women.” His eyebrows knitted together.
“It doesn’t work with any women,” Flo said.
“Sure it does,” he turned his head to Lyn. “Hey, what do you say about…”
The spoon hit right between his eyes.
“Hey…” Lyn stared at me like I was insane. “I was using that.”
Stu picked it up off the floor and handed it to her. “Five second rule.”
“That’s disgusting.” She held the spoon with her middle finger and thumb. “And would you stop trying to trick me into being a snack?”
“If I was really trying, you wouldn’t know I was doing it.”
Before she could tell that he was gone, he was standing next to her with a clean spoon. She snatched it from him. “I didn’t think moving like that was one of your skills.”
“We all move fast, but some are faster.”
“So what exactly is your specialty?” She shoved cereal into her mouth.
“Would you like a demonstration?”
“He can hypnotize people with his voice,” Flo said. She reached out and shoved him way from Lyn. He flew a few feet into the living room, knocking over a vase.
“Here we go again,” I mumbled.
